Had a contact to-day from someone seeking a link to her adoped relative. I answered, giving what info I could supply, but it didn't seem like we have a connection.

I later went into my list of 'other trees' and found that she had given me access. Her name was there with (1) beside it.

One????....I couldn't resist looking at it and sure enough, there in the middle of the screen was ONE twig only and in it was written "Hidden"....That's going to tell me a lot, isn't it?

Well, we are all learners at some time, aren't we? Anyway, she must have found the 'hidden' facility a lot earlier than I did! I gave access to TOO many before I found that one!

It looks like she wants to keep her family hidden and just to get information on the adopted person........I may be wrong here......

When I put up my tree again, I only put my maiden name, and my parents and then my maternal Scottish side, because that is where I need my information........before I was being inundated with OH's family and one branch in particular with a common name.......loads of hotmatches for this one name.....

Sorry if I have gone off topic Berona, but it was kind of you to try and help her anyway....

You might be right, but I got the impression that this lass is only just starting out and it was probably her own name in the only box in the tree, as it was her grandmother she wanted info on.

Is there a "hide" facility on Ancestry, similar to GR? If so, I am going to suggest to a few people that they use it!

Berona ... On Ancestry you have the choice of a Public or Private tree
