What a bargain £40....My local council wanted £75 but got a man for £60

I once had some wasps starting to build a nest in my roof space, I squirted the construction with WD40.........they went elsewhere!

without killing them.....

Sorry but the man is coming tomorrow to get rid of them! I am petrified of the things and dont want them living in my house or any where near me or anywhere near where my children and the neighbours kids play. I would rather pay the £60 than be a quivering wreck every time I go in and out the house. I have had a phobia of them since I was a child.

I respect your opinion but they are not staying with me for any longer than necessary

Why must people kill things, just because they are afraid of them?

Do you know that it is because we insisted in killing off a large part of the wasp population that we got Dutch Elm Disease. The wasps eat the larvae that causes it. They also control lots of other pests that annoy gardeners.

Teach your children how to respect insects and they will come to no harm.

The wasps will not nest in the same place twice, and will not harm your building



Leave well alone.

Deb, that made me laugh....ran like hell lol

Think I might try some spray etc until the pest men give me a quote. Will send hubby out to do it and me and the kids will lock all doors and windows and stay inside.

We have just got rid of one (last week) in a bird house on our front porch.
We get several a year.

Hubby waited until dark when they all go to bed. He then got "Wasp and Hornet" spray and soaked the nest, plugged up the holes with rags, then he ran like hell.

Next morning they were all dead.

Check with your local nursery to see if they can suggest a spray.

Hubby up a ladder definatley. He isn't very good at DIY. This is a man who moved the TV without taking a vase off first. Vase fell off, smashed into his leg and he ended up A&E for 5 hrs waiting to be stitched up. Next day he fell down the stairs and burst stitches....off to hospital again lol

don't think they will remove anything, I think they will just pump summat thru the entrance/exit hole.
try not to worry too much, bet you will be sorted in no time.

get in touch with your council - as $andie says, most of them will deal with wasps and rats for free. if not then I don't think it's horrendous, probably around 40-50 quid, but don't quote me on that.

fgs don't let yer hubby up the ladder!!! this is a job for professionals!

I haven't got a clue how big it is as its behind the facial cladding. The cladding is like hexagon shapes so I guess that will need to come off. There is lots of activity around it. Wish I hadn't looked up now lol

Have sent a few emails asking for quotes so hopefully we wont get ripped off!

I have to get it sorted as hubby is on about going up the ladder!! I am petrified of the things and go all hot and sweaty when one comes near me. Have to watch the kids in the garden as well.

We had pest control peeps a couple of years ago.I think it cost about £40.It did the trick

Erk...Well you need to get the pros in. They'll pump the nest with powereded glass that destroys the nest...........

We have just noticed wasps going in and out of the brick work on our house. Has any one ever had one and how did you get rid of it. Any idea how much this is going to cost?
