I'd go with something traditional, but keep it in the colour scheme. I did my friends cake, they were in their late 40's second marriage. I made sugar flowers to match her planned bouquet, and ribbon to match too. Two tiers, top tier sponge, and bottom tier traditional fruit. |

Like Susan, my daughter had a square cake done up like a parcel with a ribbon, and 3 tiers of small square cakes iced......it looked so good..... |

we had just one tier...just a little flower display in the middle all to match the colours which was peach and cream, a friend made the cake and the decorations that went on it I was thrilled to bits with the result, and save them, sadly the friend died last year. |

I don't think it's a case of what is 'appropriate'. It's what they want that matters, no matter what age they are or how many times they've been married previously. To me those things are irrelevant. |

If you have someone making sugarcraft flowers it is worth thinking about having the flowers made out of cold porcelain paste instead. They look the same and are easier to keep afterwards. |
