I deleted my post Uzzi, apologies, I seem to have the knack of bringing an otherwise interesting and easily flowing thread to a complete standstill.....

......maybe because I go on a bit too much.......I will have to learn.....

I worked on a family friends farm as a child nearly every summer holiday and loved it, would love to own one myself.

My dream would be to have a small holding though not too big but plenty of land to keep ourselves sustained plus room for lots of bunnies lol

I grew up on a 7000 acre sheep property in Qld. We sold it 15 years ago, my Dad and sister and myself were devastated. Even now, no matter where I live, our old property is "home". I still miss it.

It was a mixed dairy/wheat farm, we had a brilliant childhood, but I know how hard up we were as the pay was really low, but Dad grew or killed most of our food and we collected fresh milk straight from the dairy very morning.

I spent awhile on a milk farm, the farmer also boarded horses ( master of the hunt ) ...wouldn't want to do it for a living.

also lived on a 'proper' farm where they worried about crops to make their year ....wouldn't want to do that either

I grew up on a farm...............l loved every minute of it and it made us a very close family too, no neighbours except the cows in the fields.

I would live on a farm again in a heartbeat.............mud, muck and those familiar country smells are in my blood:)

I used to. About a mile from the village, very remote. The house was sat on the edge of a 27 acre arable field. They let us have 1/2 acre for garden, and te storage shed to use as a garage for the car. Thing is, there were so many sparrows nesting in there it was easier to keep the car out.

The house was tied to my Dad's job, he was a lorry driver and his boss owned the land and farm.

In many ways I liked it. Bit bleak in the winter though, and the wind used to cut across the fens and slice right through you.
