doe's anybody out there think that x factor , britains got talent sucks , who apart from leonna lewis has made it big .
the auditions are riot if i wanted to watch a freak show i'd have bought the "Elephant Man " on dvd

I hate all of those shows, plus Big Brother etc.

I generally dislike the audience more than the competitors!

As for the auditions for Britain's Got Talent - sometimes I think their family put them forward, so they (the 'talented') could be told the truth and give them (the family) some peace!!!
It's all very well having belief in your talent - but you should have some talent to begin with!!

I like Britains Got Talent although I cringe at some of the acts. I also bought the "Elephant Man" on video although I can no longer watch it because I no longer have a video player!

he was a contestant in some strange show where two people played one sang and one answered some questions and they had to do something inane with some props but it was deffo him singing "nissan Dorma"

I 100 % agree Igor I love the first one of each series and now the saying money for old rope springs to mind, every single year the xmas no 1 will be some cheesey crappy song put out a week before xmas.. I cant stand the show...

Try reading Ben Elton's spoof novel on this lot. It'll make you laugh and cringe at the same time.

I don't watch it. But Ray Quinn was in it, and he is doing well in the entertainment world; has sung with Tony Bennett too, at Tony's request.

I agree Igor.........I think these shows spend half off their time laughing at people with little or no talent.
Those who get through to win are then contract so severely. They get little financial reward, the money seems to go into the judges pockets. Who earn a mint through the series then again out of the poor individual who wins...................ie its all manufactured.

Those with some modicum of talent, who go through years of study at art college. Waiting on tables & dedicating themselves in the hope of being spotted. Are being undermined by these programs.

We have those shows here in Australia too. BB ran for eight years but has been axed because the producers didn't think it was raunchy enough - so the clips were put together to make it look what it wasn't. They supplied them with alcohol and pieced together clips of them making fools of themselves - until it became obnoxious to look at.

I didn't mind watching the auditions for Talent, and it could be right that some of them were encouraged to make fools of themselves so that they could see how bad they really were. I never watch the heats - just wait until the finals, when we might get to see some real talent. However, I always get annoyed when the compere says "and the winner is..........." and we get a drum-roll, then silence - and the poor contestants are left waiting. Why do they do that?

Mixed feelings on this, simply because so many of the avenues for 'amateur' talent to get a big break have gone... pubs and clubs , theatre variety shows, even (from my day) the regular talent shows like 'Opportunity knocks' 'New faces' etc . And those last two did represent the first big break for a lot of now established stars still working.

It is an incredibly hard business whichever way you look at it, at every audition you are more likely to be rejected than accepted. I agree that so many are really self deluded as to their talent and wonder how their families can not have stopped them earlier...but then again, if it is something you really want to do, you would give it a go regardless!

These shows remind me of Karaoke nights down the pub. You know the ones who believe they can sing. But we all know they can't.
Its as though those people are chosen to be part of program just so we can laugh at them.
Also because of the manufactured way singers/actor/actresses are being chosen. Its like they all have come from the same mould. Perfect complections, a pre-designed height, hair style & shape. They often look the same.
Would the likes of Kirk Douglas, John Wayne, Tommy Lee Jones, Katherine Hepburn be stars in todays film/tv industry?
