Why have trees on Genes, if when you get a question about your ancestors you just ignore the question asked.

I have put quite a few lately, but even though I can see that the person has looked at my postings to them, they have not had the decency to reply, with either the answer or to say sorry, but these are not my rellies.

So as I say why be on here if you are not interested in sharing information, also do those people not realise that I and others they ignore might have the answers to the brick walls they have in they tree.

So please answer these postings asking for information on the people in your tree and don't ingnore them.

I think there can be a lot of reasons for lack of answers, Roger. Occasionally the member might have died, or they could have lost their password and be unable to get back into the site. Also could be that they've changed their e-mail address and not updated the details on here so they're not getting the "You've got a message" type of notifications.

Or they might just have decided not to do any further research and forgotten to remove their tree from here.

Sometimes I don't reply to people immediately because my family tree programme is on my other machine so I need to consult with that and work out if there is a likely connection.

This question comes up at least once a fortnight.

Yes it is frustrating but you are probably preaching to the converted - it is unlikely that the members who are not replying to you even read these threads.

It is indeed frustrating when you can see that the message has been opened, especially when one has offered help, but it's their loss in that case :-)

Sometimes patience is required.
I have had a reply from someone this morning after 18 months. They had simply had a break from doing their tree.

I was going to add that sometimes a polite follow up message, say a month later, can do the trick.

Well if people don't want to read they letters sent to them about a rellie, why have a tree on here at all?

I thought the whole idea for theis site is to contract others doing you family history, but it looks as If I am very much mistaken.

So if you don't want to contact anyone please do not put you tree on here wasting our time posting you for nothing.

I want to make contact with those iam related to if possible to share information.
