perhaps it was to have been a 'shotgun' wedding.

Of course, she may have had rotten teeth (as per a topic a while ago!)
I agree, it's the details that give true family history (still unsure if he's one of my Baileys or not - as am stuck at mo.)

Poor Mary.(: Wonder what on earth she did, or didn't, to make
William change his mind.

On looking up baptisms for my Paternal Ancestors, found this juicy bit on Sr Marys Church., Ramsden Bellhouse,Essex

Childs name- son of Fathers name and then mothers name.

Piece put in at side by Parson - The mother of the childs mother told me that this boy is the product of the mother sleeping with her husband's father. Therefore child a bastard.

I had to laugh when I saw this, Fancy the grandmother giving the daughter away to the Parson.. I wonder if she fancied the old man herself.

Jean - When on a Whitchurch rummage again, I'll see if I can find out if she went on to marry another!

Teddys Girl - Luv that one - and they say modern society has gone to pot!

In the margin, referring to a base born child the vicar hard written "born to a strumpet of this parish"

Also one of my husband's ancestors was buried as "a half witted pauper"

One on mine found in the parish records was a marriage (or not!), in the margin it said "groom didn't turn up"!. They got married a month later!
