Printing large trees on GR

I know what it says on the help pages, and yes you can print other trees.

I suspect it might be as PME has stated and there is just not enough memory to handle trees more that about 500 names. My poor old laptop only has 512Mb ram and most of the new ones appear to be between 1Gb and 4Gb.

It is frustrating though when the website states that you should be able to do something and you cannot. If it is something to do with memory then it would be nice of them to put a note on their help pages saying that this is the case???

This is what it states on the GR Help page.

If you go to your tree you need to select the 'full tree'. You can do this by selecting the 'full tree' view at the top of the page. Click on 'print' to see the print menu. Full instructions are given on how to print out your tree here. You can print the entire tree. You can print a single page too depending on the size of your tree.

You can print out any trees that you have access to in the same way that you print out your own. You must view it in the 'full' tree view and then you'll see the option to print.

Maybe you are only allowed to print your own tree & not other people's tree??

Guess its too big for your computer to handle, never mind the poor old printers temporary memory.

If I were you I would contact the person, explain you cannot see the tree, and if possiable can they send you a gedcom file, even if its just of the branch covering your joint ancestors, or as if they have it on any other site anywhere, tend to find quite a few people have their tree or trees one more than one site.

Not really tried printing but a quick suss says that you have to select what you want to print first, before hitting print.

You say this is a 'large' tree - how many names, 100, 1000, 10000, and why do you want to print it?

It's not my tree I'm trying to print, but ones that have been opened to me so that I can view them offline.

I have mine on Family Historian

If I was you I would put your tree on a programme ie there is a free one from family search you can print out what you want then

Has anyone managed to print the larger trees that don't have a preview. Everytime I have tried, nothing happens. The printer just doesn't print.

Any suggestions anyone????
