You copied a news item and therefore are using information in the 'pubic domain' I wouldnt think twice about using the information in these circumstances |

The story only turns up if you search newspaper archives. I did think of emailing the person who definitley has him in their tree but not sure how they would respond. I think I'll risk an email |

Copying an article from a news item in a local journal of 1893 for our small community website. The article names a chap who after a strange and amusing incident ended up a patient in a lunatic asylum. I checked and found at least one GR member who has him in their tree. Should I just print it in any case as there is little chance of it coming to their attention, or should I scrub out the details? If I do the latter then some might come to the wrong conclusion about who is being refered to. What do you think? |
