What is your favourite tree and why ? ( you can include shrubs if you want to ).

I love trees, and in my former garden planted all sorts, many from seed which had grown to 30 odd foot, which sadly I hear have all been chopped down, even the flowering cherry and apple trees that were planted as christening gifts to my son. And so sad to think that the little oak he planted as an acorn, has also gone, it had grown as tall as he is now :(

I guess it has to be the twisted willow that gently shades my back garden :O))

It started as a twig in a bunch of flowers I was given - it sprouted roots so i planted it ........... and the rest is history as they say lol

I love all trees but my current "favourite" which is doing quite nicely in a large plant pot is a Kowhai (N Zealand tree, bought at Village Event - lovely foliage - bit like mimosa, and has yellow pod type flowers in the Spring) Stands about 3 ft tall at the moment.

It is so delicate - I could tell you the Latin name, but I'd have to go out into the garden to write it down! Sophora something or other Macrop-something or other!

I can't think of a tree that I don't like but I do have a soft spot for the Rowan tree. I have one in my back garden that a friend had rescued as a sapling .I have watched it grow into a proper tree over the years . She keeps me in touch with the seasons .
