Hello Purple.

Have to agree with you, as I am sure others will too!

If you were to have an elderly neighbour ( I do have one, and always say hello!), I can see if you live in a tenement(block of flats), you may not see you neighbour as often. Especially, as we now read, that this lady had not had a visit from family in 18 years!

It is so easy to pass the buck, but how would you feel, that an elderly neighbour that you know of, and/ or say hello to, has not gone on holiday, as you guess, until you hear differently!?

The older generation( my mum is 80 and in a nursing home, and her friends,) can now be a bit slower, and have to be looked out for.

This episode has brought this to our attention!

I haven't had the meter read in my house for years, they know I am not living there and take my readings over the phone for the small amount of electrictity used for lights left on etc
If it was a solid door the post wouldn't show but I am amazed that knowing the age of this lady no one knocked or asked around for her in all that time.

Would just like to add, that a daily newspaper, say that this lady was not visited, by family, in, 18 years! Then goes on to say that family are trying to be contacted!

Sorry, but closing gate after horse has bolted( is that the correct saying?), seems a tad late in the day. Either way, Peace now, to Isabella.

Is this the one in Edinburgh that we were all talking about yesterday? Or is it another one? I hope not, one is bad enough...

This woman had lived their for many years.
She still had the old fashioned bell-pull with her surname on, at the stair door.
I can't understand how the postie, or the neighbours didn't smell anything.
A dead body and rotting food must surely have been stinking.

Also, if her bills were paid by bank giro, surely the utility companies would see that she was in credit for her gas & electricity, as it wouldn't have been used.

This truly beggars belief.

wonders how many more poor people like her there are out there
please check on your elderly neighbours it only takes a few minutes
and they might just welcome a smiling face

Very sad. One would think that the neighbours would have noticed her mail piling up or the postie???

Working with the elderly as I do tho, I see some being neglected by their children and sometimes I am their only visitor for a fortnight on some occasions.

That is so terribly sad.

My daughter never misses a day of ringing, emailing, or visiting me - and she has keyes to my home. Also, my immediate neighbour has my daughter's phone number.

I have no intention of departing this life for many years yet, but you never know - and accidents can happen too

THE BODY OF A WOMAN WHO LIVED ALONE HAS BEEN FOUND IN HER FLAT IN EDINBURGH.

ISABELLA PURVES, WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN 90YRS OF AGE THIS YEAR, MAY HAVE LAIN DEAD FOR UP TO FIVE YEARS.

NO-ONE KNEW ?????? AS HER PENSION WAS PAID INTO HER BANK ACCOUNT, AND HER BILLS WERE PAID USING THAT MONEY.
IT WOULD APPEAR SHE WAS A VICTIM OF THE 21ST CENTURY TECHNOLOGY, AS SHE NEVER NEEDED TO GO TO THE BANK.
POLICE COULD ESTIMATE HOW LONG SHE HAD LAIN DEAD, BY THE USE- BY DATES OF FOOD IN HER FRIDGE, AND THE LARGE VOLUME OF MAIL WHICH HAD BEEN DELIVERED.
IT WOULD APPEAR SHE HAD NO FAMILY.

MAY YOU R.I.P. ISABELLA
