I think the place may be called Maulnahorna. It is just outside the town of Macroom in County Cork

I googled "irish placename finder" and went from there. The mis-spelling can occur because of transcription error.

:-) Regards

lol Budgie I was trying out an Irish accent on them all and that came closest :)

Janette, when did he emigrate? If he or any relatives were still in Cork in 1911 you cav view the Irish census at

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

Cork is one of the counties transcribed and it's free! might give an idea?

You don't give any dates. It maybe that the name is spelt incorrectly. If the age is on the death cert have a look for his birth.

Hi.

the death certificate of an Irish ancestor who migrated to Australia says that he was born in Maulnahavna, Cork.

There is no such place today. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

thanks, Janette
