Thanks girls - you are all so helpful. I have printed off replies and will have a go on internet at weekend when hubby sorts out his route. We will be going to Brittany where my old school friend lives - so a very long drive for hubby as I am a back seat driver only !!!
By the way it chucked it down with rain yesterday and has just started again - sunny Spain haha !!! Shame for those that are on holiday though. And it is so humid - perhaps the rain will cool it down
Must go and shut windows
Thanks again
love Mary xx

We have stayed at some lovely Hostals in Spain, better than some hotels, even Paradors!
The only time we booked was when we had tickets for Bancotel. This was a book of 5 tickets bought at a Spanish travel agent, and when you buy all 5 you get a considerably reduced price, but have to book beforehand.Don't know if they still do it,but it might be worth enquiring at your local agent.

Hi Sheila here living in Spain, there is one in Burgos the email address is http://www.hotelciudaddeburgos.com/ the other ones we use are B&B Hotels the one we stop in was the one in Bayonne, they do not have restaurants but this one has another hotel next door that sells food. They are at Bordeaux/Rennes/etc if you want the link let me know but you do have to book Sheila

We used Campanile for the hotel in Liverpool, wasn't too bad but noisy door closing, it kept us awake a lot.

Hi Mary, which way are you going up. There are several B&B sites on the net. Don't forget that France closes down early than Spain ! ( for eating )

Thanks Linda - just looked at that and it seems only to cater for the Costa's and we would want northern Spain and France.
