I had my 2 grandchildren sleep over, Monday night.

I now, have an unexpected sleep over tonight, with my 2 grandkids.

I tend to get these, as I am the only grandparent, that there is, available.

This is owing to the fact, that, my grandchildren's other family( father's side), choose not to get involved.,

I know that this means that only me and OH can have the kids, and this does tend to annoy OH,at times ( He feels that only us have to look after the kids!,)
I do know that when the kids are more grown up, they will know who has been there , around them.

enjoy it while you can, I wish ours were close enough to sleep over, and, in the case of daughter's boys, young enough.

I love to have my grandchildren over to stay but they can tire you out. When they go home after a visit or a stay-over I'm a little relieved but within a day or so I'm missing them again:)) My eldest grandson who's 5 lives down in Tasmania which is a 1 1/2 hour flight for us so we don't get to see him as often as we would like but he knows just who we are and is so excited when I ring him up and send him parcels. I never thought I could love anyone more than my children but my heart bursts with love everytime I see them. When I visit they run and fling themselves at me and is there anything nicer than 3 squirming little ones fighting over who's going to sit on your knee? Gail your grandkids will be telling their grandkids how much fun they had with you and how much you and grand-dad loved them.

Thanks everyone, for taking the time to reply.

I know exactly what you mean, they do grow up too fast. My 2 are 4 and almost 6. It only seems like yesterday that they were little babies.

Sue, I can exactly relate to the squirming over who is sitting on my knee first. Unually ends up with me having them both at the same time. I then tell them that they are lucky that they have an generous sized Gran, who can have them both at the same time!

Thanks again. You have reminded me that they (kids) grow up only too quickly.
