I am ashamed to say that up till about a yr ago I had no interest in the wars going on. But when I kepted on seeing and hearing about all these soldiers getting killed and not knowing why there are out there in the first place then I started taking an interest.

I think nearly everyday this last week someone has been killed.
Such a waste.

War correspondent's quote (Todays Daily Mail) : 'I was approached by a young soldier from " The poor B.. Infantry , leading the thrust" He said:

"We don't care about democracy, clean water, schools for girls or the political overview. All we care about is each other and making sure that our mates get out of here alive"

Surely this is the real truth out there, not what our politicians try to feed us?
Bless that young man for speaking out and let's hope that he and his mates get out of there alive.

My Opinion ,For what its worth is ,They are out there fighting for the "Joint Egos of Bush and Blair," and they Both Should be Held to Account for it.**M**

The defence secretary last night said that some helicopters would be sent the end of the year and others next year so they will be there at least another year. I wish the people who sent them there could be made to go and fight too.

As someone said they are not even defending their country.

God bless them all.

Wooton Bassett are wonderful to honour them that way puts the politicians to shame.

Yes Paula, they are fantastic. Here is an article about Wootton Bassett.

So sorry about the soldiers. How tragic.

No Ann - I sure don't know, that's why it's such a waste. In WW2 many young men were conscripted, not career soldiers, had no choice but at least they knew they were fighting for Our country and its future and believed in the fight. - Likewise, our army in the Falklands, they were protecting British land & citizens.
Surely, our current brave boys signed up for Queen & Country - Not the current situation in Afghanistan?

P.s. Don't U think the people of Wotton Basset are wonderful too?

how absolutely tragic - I do wish I knew why we are in Afghanistan - does anyone know?
