Well done Sue, the secretary will just have to do it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Oct 2014 22:32

Thank you Linda, maybe Sue is in the kitchen warming the croisants :-D

SueMaid Report 22 Oct 2014 22:32

Of course I will make the coffee. I have some chocolate wafer biscuits too :-)

Sunny and warm today as was yesterday.

You will both be proud of me. I was asked to take over the driver coordinator's job for a fortnight and I said a definite NO. The secretary was not happy but that's tough luck. It's a horrible job.

Typical, she has disappeared, so I will make it

Speaking of coffee, whose turn is it :-D

Hello everyone :-)

Good news Linda but make sure the doctor keeps checking your thyroid.

We go to a small practice where we can choose our own doctor. If I just need a prescription I will see any of them but generally I see just the one doctor who I really like. There is a huge doctors' clinic in town but the doctors are forever changing. It is a business run by a company in Sydney and very impersonal.

Bye Sylvia - Enjoy your coffee break.

Bye Sylvia, enjoy your little jaunt

Tecwyn Report 22 Oct 2014 22:13

The four doctors at our practice are also responsible for the patients in the local cottage hospital, where I spent the last four weeks of my incarceration.
They also have other responsibilities in the area. So not at the surgery every day.

coffee time

see you later

if not ..............

sleep tight xx

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Oct 2014 22:08

Tec ...........

it's a bit the same as me

the Residents also have to work in the ER room of one of the local hospitals, and so may only be in the Clinic one day or even one half-day a week

so you have to make an appointment 1 or 2 weeks ahead

but I've had a couple of emergencies, and got in within 2-3 hours ................ usually seeing the Clinic Doctor on duty

but that was how I first saw the Romanian lady .................. I'd had a biopsy done on my back, 2 stitches put in it, then taken out 2 weeks later. That night the wound burst open as I got into bed. I phoned the Clinic the next morning, and got in by late morning ............... to the Romanian

I asked for her the remainder of that year.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Oct 2014 22:03

We have four doctors in our practice, and are registered with one of them.

If you ring for an appointment with your own doctor, you can wait 10 to 14 days, but if you are willing to see any of the doctors then it is much quicker 2-3 days.

My previous doctor retired from the practice, thank goodness.

Now I have a delightful young lady who is actually interested in her patients

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Oct 2014 22:00

The only one I might have had trouble with was a Romanian doctor I ended up seeing some years ago .......................

she was nearing the end of her 1 year at the Clinic, but she had practised in Romania for 10 years, and in Belgium for another 2 or 3

Despite that the BC Association insisted that she had to do a Residency again, even just the 1 year.

She was fantastic ................ and the Clinic got her number as fast as they could, .................. so it was on any of the prescriptions she wrote for me. :-D

The other one was the Nigerian I really liked about 4 years ago ................. perfect English, good doctor, got his number quickly ................ but Iyeye was easy to remember :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Oct 2014 21:59

It's no more difficult than Dolthingy :-D :-D :-D

that name would be pronounced Treshiac or very similar

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Oct 2014 21:55

Linda ............ that's a similar problem to the one I have.

We are registered to the Family Practice Clinic

we are assigned to a Resident, and they like us to stay with that one for the 2 years of residency (and so do I), although we can ask to be re-assigned if we don't have a rapport with someone

but we can't be registered with them because they don't have billing numbers until at least the end of their first year ......... and that's if they are a high flyer.

That means they are not on any listings, and are not "official"

I usually try to give the name of the Clinic Director .................... but they take it in turns to do 2 or 3 years in the job.

I almost always find myself fumbling ............... although I did realise the other week that my pill vials show the name of the Clinic Doctor on duty the day the drug was prescribed

................ if I can only remember that name :-)

I know I have on at least one occasion given the name of a Clinic Director who had actually finished his complete rotation at the Clinic, and was no longer there :-)

The Clinic Doctors are all practising family physicians who give 1 day or 1 half day a week to training the Residents in the Clinic. Some do it for several years, others seem to do it for only 2 or 3 years.

I comfort myself that if any enquiry reaches the Clinic office, the staff will know what to say or do :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Oct 2014 21:54

I will just fill in the new little boys name when needed as I can remember that. I have just looked the other one up, it is Trzeciak, so I have no chance of remembering that

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Oct 2014 21:50

All the doctors in the hospital I was in looked about 12 :-D

I think that you are entitled to be registered with any one doctor of your choice at the practice.
As you say, it must be very difficult when asked on a form to name your GP.

Maybe if you had a word with the receptionist she could arrange this, assuming she isn't a fire eating dragon who will allow you to speak :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Oct 2014 21:42

I really don't like this GP,There are two others in the practice who I much prefer. When I made the original appointment it was only to ask for a blood test,so I wasn't bothered who I saw, now I seem to be stuck with him. We used to have a nice lady doctor and though I rarely go, I always used to see her. Sadly she died from breast cancer. We keep asking who our new doctor is, but they don't allocate them any more, you just belong to the practice. That is no good when you need to fill a form in. The main one who I am seeing now has a Polish name which I can't spell or pronounce, so I have decided to belong to the new young man even though he only looks about twelve
