Well I should hate to have a heart attack while your GP thinks about doing anything about it.

The chest virus will have taken its toll on the Duchess. Hopefully the antibiotics have done their job and she will pick up soon.Sleeping always seems like a good idea to me when you don't feel well

The xray girl said it mentioned the knee clinic on the referral sheet she had, so he must be thinking about it, you can't rush these things you know

Hi Tec

I missed Linda's report .......................... good news on the medical front :-)

Tec .......... maybe the Duchess didn't sleep too well while her chest was bad, and so she will be very tired now. Hope she is better next time you see her.

Hello World :-)

Sylvia I have seen the events in Parliament - I suppose that these days these lunatics can pop up anywhere.
Hopefully no one else will be killed or injured before the situation is brought to an end.
Very worrying for people who have family working in that building.

Linda - You have been a busy bee. Glad you had a good report from GP, so long as the thyroid thing is monitored, not forgotten.
For heavens sake, why doesn't the doctor just refer you to the knee clinic now, time is passing, and it needs sorting out :-(

I went to visit the Duchess today. Her chest seems better, but she looks quite unwell, very pale, and extremely tired. She was asleep on her bed when I arrived, and fought to keep her eyes open. She apologised twice for nodding off, so I didn't stay that long - seemed best to let her rest. She obviously needs to.

It was a dull day here, but dry, and not too cold at 13C.

they still are not sure ............. so they are having to search the whole Central Block ................. 5 or 6 stories!

People are hiding in offices, and other rooms ......... so the security people ahve to determine whether they are innocents or not

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Oct 2014 20:55

I have had a busy day today.

I went to get my blood test results this morning. mainly good news, low cholesterol, no signs of diabetes, anemia, good kidney function etc. The one odd thing was one of the results for the liver tests. Two tests were fine, but one was too high

He asked me if there was any family history of thyroid problems. My father in his early eighties suddenly started putting on weight and he dozed off every time he sat down. he had an under active thyroid and had to take thyroxine tablets which made him much better.

I never went to sleep during the day but over the last few months, i feel really tired and quite often doze off during the afternoon. I have put lots of weight on as well. He just said that he would do another blood test in a couple of months and keep an eye on it.

Then he decided that I should go to the hospital in the next town to get a knee xray, this is despite the fact that I had one done on holiday and came back with the xray. It seems they need their own xray which is a total waste of money

I have to go back and see him after a week, then he will probably refer me to the knee clinic, which no doubt will take ages.

This afternoon, I made some green tomato chutney and some red as well, so I am glad to sit down tonight

I have seen the news about the gunman Sylvia. Although one is dead, they don't seem to know if he was on his own or if there are others as well

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Oct 2014 19:49

plus .................

another soldier was killed on Monday when there was a hit-and-run in a parking lot in a town in Quebec ................ 2 soldiers run down. The second is expected to recover.

The police chased the car, and eventually shot and killed the man ............. who turned out to be a Quebecer who converted to Muslim about 18 months ago, and became radicalised earlier this year.

About 2 weeks ago, ISIS threatened there would be attacks in Canada

Hi Sue, and everyone

we're in a series of Pacific storms .................. high winds and heavy rain last night, after a sunny afternoon. Cloudy but not raining this morning, another storm due later.

Today is not a good day in Canada .....................

a terrorist attack in Ottawa .......

...... a soldier was killed while on duty at the National War Memorial, just before 10 am (about 3 pm UK time)

...... gunman gets across the short distance to the Central Block of Parliament, and into the Block. Shot and killed in the main hallway by the Sergeant-at-Arms

...... another gunman or gunmen believed to be in the area

...... area around Parliament Hill and the downtown core of Ottawa in shutdown ............ no-one can enter or leave. All buildings in full lock down.

Wednesday is Caucus Day .............. so almost all MPS and their staffers, as well as journalist and others, were in the Central Block at the time.

The Caucus Room for two of the parties (government and official opposition) both open off the main hallway ................. where the gunman was shot down.

All 3 leaders and MPs are safe, most out of the building, but some are still in a safe room in lock down inside the Central Block, including a couple of reporters.

still going on now, at about 2:45 pm Ottawa time

Goodnight Tec - sweet dreams <3

Tecwyn Report 21 Oct 2014 23:22

I'm having no trouble with GR today, but yesterday I was trying to reply to an e-mail a reply to Linda.
I sent them three times, but she never got them, and they didn't bounce back to me.
Sent her a short trial one this evening and she got that???

Well I'm off to bed, I'm cold now.
Enjoy your day at home but don't try to do too much.

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Oct 2014 23:17

I'd collapse on the floor I think :-D :-D

I'm having such trouble with GR this morning. It's very windy outside - I wonder if that's the problem as the Internet seems very slow.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 21 Oct 2014 23:08

People very often come up with their ideas more readily if they are allowed to chat, whereas they would be shy of addressing the floor.

That old lady would wake up and join in at the most inappropriate times.

One day we were discussing who would attend a members funeral.

She suddenly woke up and said loudly "Oh how lovely, how exciting, I'd love to come" :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Oct 2014 23:04

I always allow a bit of chat as I think we get more ideas that way but our president doesn't allow that. He pulls us back in line very quickly. We do finish earlier when he's in the chair :-)

I'd get the giggles too :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 21 Oct 2014 22:57

I used to chair a meeting where one old lady always fell asleep.
She insisted on sitting in one of those upright shiny hospital type armchairs, but she used to slowly slide out showing her knee length pink wincy bloomers with elastic round the knees.
:-D
I used to get a fit of the giggles - no way to chair a meeting :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Oct 2014 22:52

It was boring Tec - as always. We had such mundane things to discuss and I felt like nodding off at times. I didn't feel we accomplished much.

I have the house to myself today so I will stay home and catch up on some jobs around the house.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 21 Oct 2014 22:44

Good Morning Sue,

I'm still on dry land :-D though it was a wild night, and noisy.

How did the meeting go?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Oct 2014 22:42

Goodnight Linda <3. Missed you again :-(

Hello Tec - I see you are online so you're not floating in the Irish Sea.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 21 Oct 2014 22:42

Well mind how you go.

I am also going out to visit the Duchess, but the forecast looks better here.

My brother and SIL are visiting me on Saturday, I have a few jobs for him outside.
