SylviaInCanada Report 20 Oct 2014 22:14

Hi tec, and Linda

the wind started yesterday afternoon.

The rain began about 8:30 pm, and continued all night

then it eased off to a drizzle

now the sun is shining :-S

rain warnings have been issued for tomorrow, and most of the rest of the week

There has been a problem with notificaton of pms on here for the last 4 or 5 weeks

Mine is OK now, but I was one of the first ................... I complained, and they sorted it out.

I noticed several people complaining over the weekend.

Do email [email protected]

and tell them

They won't do anything otherwise!

If it doesn't you can message it here

Where is Sylvia? She must be cooking all those apples

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 Oct 2014 22:04

I will try that later with yours - I checked my sent box, and it's clearly there :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Oct 2014 22:02

If they are in your sent box, you could copy and paste them into a new email and try again. It must be BT as you say

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 Oct 2014 22:00

It is very strange. I sent two e-mails to my sister the other day. She sears she hasn't had them, but they didn't "bounce" back to me as they usually do if they don't reach destination.

I am so old that I remember when people wrote letters to each other. Postage tuppence halfpenny.

Oliver Cromwell changed all that, the place hasn't been the same since :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Oct 2014 21:52

I have just looked on my internet website because sometimes emails are sent to the trash folder there and never make it as far as my computer, but there is nothing there

As you say humph

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 Oct 2014 21:48

I found a PM from someone te other day that I didn't know I had. It didn't appear in the messages box either.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Oct 2014 21:37

I just sent you a pm, when I looked in my inbox, there was an email from GR telling me I had paid my subs for another year, but there wasn't the usual little notification envelope so I didn't know it was there

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 Oct 2014 21:34

That's right. The e-mail I sent was in reply to yours.
Will try again later, but can send a PM on here anyway.

Technology Hmph :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Oct 2014 21:30

The one I got was just what I had written to you, there was no reply from you, oh well

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 Oct 2014 21:27

Linda there are some very strange things going on with my e-mails.
Three times I attempted to write an e-mail to you and for some reason nothing to do with me it disappeared into my drafts box.
Then I wrote another e-mail, and it said it had been successfully sent?

It is now in my sent box.

BT were having problems with e-mails a few days ago. That may have something to do with it. :-|

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Oct 2014 21:20

Tec, I got an email from you earlier, but it didn't say anything. Was it meant to?

Have you been camping in a tent in the garden up to now Persie? Don't tell Sue, she will be jealous :-D

Good job I just went to check what time my doctors appointment is tomorrow, turns out that is Wednesday morning, but the library books are tomorrow

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 Oct 2014 21:13

I have battened down my hatches too.
They wind is getting up. I can hear it rumbling down the chimney.
Welsh radio singled out Gwynedd and Anglesea to be hardest hit, with 70mph winds, structural damage, fallen trees, flooding.
Usually these dire warnings are unfounded, lets hope they've got it wrong this time too.

Today I was painting in the bedroom - got on better than expected.

Must go to make coffee, dying of thirst :-D

Persephone Report 20 Oct 2014 21:12

Rained overnight here but looks like we are in for another fine day today, it was lovely washing drying weather yesterday.. and we finally slept in a bedroom last night. Still moving furniture around though, might get it finished today as tomorrow we will be back in Auckland.

OH was listening to the radio this morning and I heard him say "well I don't care, I aint bothered".... the Northern Motorway traffic was heavy and moving slowly and they were announcing that people should take alternative routes.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 Oct 2014 20:36

All the hatches are battened down ahead of the forthcoming storm.

I would like to stay in tomorrow, but I have to go to the doctors for the blood test results in the morning, then we have to deliver library books in the afternoon.

I have no idea what you mean about my typing Persie, it always looks perfect to me :-|

I have to have a little ladder to get in the truck.. hate to know what I look like from the rear the way I clamber into the seat.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 20 Oct 2014 04:03

Persie ..........

OH was up one of those triangular ladders that horticulturists use ............... it had been put up on the soil underneath the tree, but obviously not properly settled.

OH climbed the ladder, reached out to get some fruit, and the thing collapsed.

He landed flat on his back on the soft soil, refused to go to the doctor, but did go to the physio, saw a fairly young one, and they gave him some exercises.

I think he should have gone and had an X-ray, because he now is a bit bent.

Do hope the Duchess pulls through after this fall and gets some strength back. When you are young you can just pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start all over again (or so the song says) but as you get older mole hills become mountains.. I am into clichés today or something like that. My space bar is playing up and I keep joining up words.. looks like something Linda would type.

Sylvia, we are required to leave a stove in the house when we move, it is a legal requirement. When we moved in 1987 the person who had bought our old house was penalised (bridging finance to cover until payment made) for late payment, this in turn meant we also were penalised and our penalty was more because the house we moved to cost more, never mind the fact that we had the money to cover the difference in the upgrade. Laws are sometimes rather unfair.

Since then we have boxed clever and purchased the rentals, nothing like the rent money covering the mortgage though we supplemented that from income as well by doing block payments as investments matured and made sure that we had floating mortgage at the same time as they were due.. bit of a game of wits from a couple of twits.

My father sort of fell off the ladder from picking fruit or pruning a tree. He had one leg which he called his bad leg it had rheumatoid arthritis and it was when he stepped down from the last rung of the ladder instead of stepping down with his good leg he used t'other one and then went all onky paroke and fell down.

With his first hip replacement which just happened to be the good side, he was asked which was his bad leg, oh dear he told them the wrong hip but luckily my OH was there at the time and corrected the situation.

OH has just returned with .................

a large bag of Ambrosia apples

2 bags (1 large, 1 small) of dried apple rings

1 blackberry and apple pie

and

1 raspberry and apple pie

:-D :-D :-D

I have just wrapped the blackberry pie, and put it into the freezer, for future use.

He came back yesterday with 3 bags of quinces, about 9 lbs in total, for which he had paid a total of $6, to aid the fundraising cause, instead of going into to the Garden to pick them himself

He was of course doing that when he fell off the ladder 2 years ago :-(

he'll go and collect about another 9 lbs from the tree next week, if he can .................. windfalls preferably, so he doesn't have to climb a ladder :-)
