OK Tec, I give in, I will share,

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 22:04

They were supposed to teach young ladies not to be mean, but to share, at that Swiss Finishing School :-0

SylviaInCanada Report 19 Oct 2014 22:03

the change is coming ................ the wind has really got up in the last half hour or so

that means rain tonight, and then for the next 4 or 5 days, heavy rain on most of them :-(

SylviaInCanada Report 19 Oct 2014 22:02

Linda's being mean, Linda's being mean :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 22:00

Don't be mean Linda :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Oct 2014 21:56

Of course I will Tec

Crosses fingers behind back :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 21:52

Thank you Linda :-)

I didn't want to have to eat it all - so you can have half, so long as you share your half with your OH :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Oct 2014 21:49

You don't have to eat it all yourself Tec, I will help :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 21:46

Oh well Sylvia, I'll just have to eat it all :-D

I remember when we bought our first house having to practically grovel to the manager of the Building Society for a mortgage.

In later years when I wanted a bigger mortgage, it was a case of "how much do you want" and a case of why are you bothering me :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 19 Oct 2014 21:39

no chocolate for me, thank you, Tec.

I like it, especially that one ......... but :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 19 Oct 2014 21:38

we had a very smooth move into this house ................. back in 1972 :-)

everything just fell into place, except for one small hiccup when the band was slow in deciding whether we were suitable.................

we therefore went to a credit union one week before closure, and got approved the very same day!

and the credit union was quite happy not to have my salary included in the decision, which i think was the sticky point for the bank!

The previous owners did take the fridge and stove with them when they moved, which is not usual here ................... and we didn't have quite enough money left over to buy both appliances

so we bought a fridge, so we could have cold beer for the friends who helped us to move

and then were able to buy a range the following month.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 21:33

I could be persuaded to move into Blenheim Palace, provided the furniture is included...........and the staff to do the dusting :-D

Could I interest anyone in a piece of Cadbury's Fruit and Nut?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Oct 2014 21:30

When I win the lottery, I will move :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 21:26

The move into this house was a nightmare from beginning to end, when it should have been so straightforward.

I have no intention of moving again, even if it is too big for me to rattle around in :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Oct 2014 21:19

I hate moving house, everything which can go wrong does go wrong in my experience

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 21:16

Thank you Sylvia,

There are so many pitfalls in buying and selling property - very lucky indeed when everything falls into place without hiccups along the way.
I hope that you friend has better luck soon.

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2014 21:09

Imagine being blown along the prom in my wheelchair - and straight into the sea :-D

Glad to see that the Russian ship is now safe with the help of a powerful American tug.

I was on a ship that went aground outside Honolulu harbour, badly listing to starboard.
The passengers were taken off, and two very large American Navy tugs towed us into Pearl Harbour for underwater inspection.
We ultimately limped back to Sydney, empty, into the company's dry dock for repairs. Which meant I had a nice long holiday ashore. :-D

Hi Tec

so sorry to hear that the Duchess has had a fall. xxx

You were lucky that you were able to balance yourself so that you were not blown over :-)

Persie .............. the open house does sound as though it was a success. Hope you sell quickly.

Our friend, who thought he had sold his house last week, was disappointed on Friday ...............

............ the development where he lived is on a very rocky hillock, it is in fact almost solid rock, and that is very common in the town where he lives.

The last stage of the development, about 6 more house units is set to begin next year, right at the very top of the hill.

The potential buyers were apparently very disturbed when they read this detail in the Disclosure Statement that all strata councils now have to give to all owners and buyers. But, seemingly, instead of asking the developer or the builder ................. the couple asked City Hall bureaucrats if they could guarantee that the blasting that will be necessary to remove rock would not damage the existing houses. The house they were buying is about 50' or so from the top of the hill.

City Hall, of course, couldn't guarantee anything :-)

so they have backed out ............... much to the disgust and anger of both realtors.

Hi Linda ............... and everyone

it is cloudy with sunny periods today .............. still pretty nice for the last day of the Apple Fest.

That Russian ship has been taken under tow by a large American tug, and is now being towed to the port of Prince Rupert, on the northern coast of BC, for repairing.

The Canadian Coast guard ship did get the tow connected 3 times, but it snapped each time.

here's a link if you want to read more about it .........

We have a native Red squirrel here, known as the Douglas squirrel ........... but it has largely been replaced by the Eastern Grey squirrel, imported from eastern NAm back in 1912.

The grey can be almost black in colour, and are found all over the city.

It's quite funny to look out of my kitchen window and see one of the local grey-blackish ones running along the telephone wire across the street! :-)

I am sorry the Duchess has had a fall Tec. I am relieved that you were not blown over, it has been very windy here as well. I think the wind is going to stay for a couple of days, so be careful tomorrow. Maybe you would be safer in your wheelchair, although I can imagine you being blown along the front
