What kind of cards does Aiden collect?

You could have had those things shipped over Sue - pop back and get them :-D

Isn't saffron an ingredient in the traditional Simnel cake, eaten at Easter time?

Hi Sue xx

Night Amanda xx

Night Linda xx

I hope you both sleep well.

Sylvia I have a very vigorous red rose - Prince William - that is covered in buds, so I left that alone, but if we get a lot of wet weather the flowers will be ruined, or rot in bud.

Weird? I think it's a great idea.

When we were in Hobart we went to a market there as Aiden likes looking for some cards to add to his collections. I wish I hadn't gone as I saw so many nice things I would love to have bought including an old cane plant stand. The terracotta pots were very old and quite ornate.

that is what OH does with out roses ....

he hasn't started pruning them yet though.

They are still fully leaved

Goodnight Linda, hope you have a better night,

Sue you can help me choose if you like :-)

It must be so interesting watching the birds in your garden Sue.

I have fixed a wireless doorbell to my bird table to scare the greedy jackdaws away who don't give the smaller birds a chance.
When they land I press the bell push and it frightens them off - saves a lot of are and tea towel waving :-D

Yes I know I'm weird :-D

Goodnight Linda <3

Tec - will you be buying terracotta troughs?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Oct 2014 23:04

I am off to bed now, so goodnight.

Goodnight Amanda <3

Tec would you like me to help you choose some? I don't mind :-D

We get little blue wrens in our garden. They come back every year with their new family. We also get some colorful little lorikeets. We have some wattle birds who love the nectar in the grevilleas and the bird bath :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Oct 2014 22:58

Linda they are probably blue tits in your garden. Chaffinches are colourful too, I expect that you get them too.

Goodnight, Amanda - sleep well tonight,

Sue I need to buy some troughs to put Spring bulbs in for the front garden

Goodnight Amanda, sleep well

Amanda2003 Report 18 Oct 2014 22:56

I don't think I'll make a " fortune " on two packets of saffron crocuses but perhaps in about fifty years I'll have enough bulbs to plant up an allotment ......lol

Night all <3

I had better read up on the harvesting process of the saffron , it seems a shame to demolish the pretty flowers but they are a crop :-S

Well , I had better be saying " good night " and " good day " , the weekly shopping trip is looming for tomorrow .

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Oct 2014 22:53

Poor Robin :-(

I think they remind us of Christmas cards. They used to be the only birds we had with any colour to them, but now we have some pretty little blue things

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Oct 2014 22:53

They are very pretty birds.

Saffron is very expensive. It would be good if you grow your own. If you have too much you can sell it and make a fortune :-D

Lovely sunny morning here :-)

I knew you would be disappointed in me Tec but there wasn't a great deal at the markets.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Oct 2014 22:51

Wow Amanda - you could make your fortune with your saffron flowers :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Oct 2014 22:48

Sue robins are special, even to us who see them all the time.
They can become very tame, and two years ago I had one I could hand feed.

I think a local cat got him :-|

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Oct 2014 22:46

Saffron is the yellow colouring in paella or risotto rice etc. it is the most expensive spice in the world as it comes from the stigmas of the flower which are tiny

Tecwyn Report 18 Oct 2014 22:45

Good Morning Sue,

So - you came back from the market with one small pot - how disappointed I am in you :-D

The Duchess has always slept a lot whenever she is unwell, hopefully it does her good.
