Hi Sue, and everyone

Persie ............. your "new" place sounds very nice. I hope you soon find the one to buy :-)

Linda ............ that is a long time to go :-(

We are allowed to eat and drink up to midnight before having a fasting blood test in the morning ................ and are even allowed a sip of water in the morning if needed.

The clinic did refuse to do it on the one occasion that I had not realised the doc had asked for a fasting test ............ I had to go back another day, whenever I found the time. We don't have to make appointments at the clinic .............. just turn up with the doctor's requisition.

It was very cruel of your husband to tease you ....................

................ almost as bad as me eating cold turkey in front of OH at dinner time yesterday when all he could have was bouillon or jelly :-)

Tec ........ I hope the Duchess improves, and does not need wither a second course or has to be taken into hospital. xxx

I have put my responsible hat away for another year :-)

They did remove 4 stalk-less polyps, and those are sent for biopsy as a routine measure. Unless we hear to the contrary within 2 weeks ................... they don't want to see OH until next October.

take care everyone

s
xx

Goodnight Linda, sleep well tonight.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2014 22:49

Too true.

I am turning in now, so I will say goodnight

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2014 22:44

Well you know what they say..........never volunteer :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2014 22:37

Oh well it has to be done, even if I did volunteer for it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2014 22:22

That's difficult for you.

Try firmly tapping the small of your arm with two fingers, and opening and clenching your fist while you wait.

They always have trouble locating the veins with the Duchess, so I understand

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2014 22:16

I am not looking forward to it. I have no visible veins on the usual place on my arms, so they always have problems getting the blood

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2014 22:11

It seems that some doctors advise it, others don't.

Like your OH I have also had a test not realising that it was a fasting one - no problems with the test.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2014 22:07

Goodness knows. OH had his annual blood test last week. He didn't know he was supposed to fast because last year he was told not to. They still did the test and the results were fine

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2014 22:03

Poor Linda - starved.

I was once discussing with a nursing Sister how silly it was to expect a diabetic to attend a fasting blood test, because they have to eat breakfast, or risk a hypo.
She said it was silly, because a light breakfast would not make any difference to the result of the test.

So who is right? :-(

Cambridge sounds nice.
My sister that has travelled several times in NZ was here recently, she remarked how similar this area is to NZ- I have often thought so.
Enjoy your day Persie, whatever it is you have to do in such a rush :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2014 21:54

All this talk of toast and honey is making me hungry, so I will go and have a drink of water :-(

Persephone Report 16 Oct 2014 21:52

Cambridge is like a little bit of England with a touch of kiwi... but even it has it has its go mad on a Sunday Market Days.

The weekends are very busy as people stop there for lunch before travelling on. Has some good cafés.

Romania has a cemetery called the Merry Cemetery (I think I have the name right) has very interesting sometimes humourous and pictures as well on the head stones.

The honey is only clover, need to take out a mortgage to buy Rata or Pohutukawa etc Honey..

Must go he is chomping at the bit .. saying come on rush rush and I am trying to type and eat my toast.. is that multi-tasking?

Back later Persie ;-)

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2014 21:51

I shall take a look later :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2014 21:48

I just looked at some pictures of Cambridge on the net

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2014 21:47

Sometimes they have to call the "out of hours doctor"
because this is a huge rural area, if there is only one doctor on call, he/she could be 70 miles away, with other calls to make. :-0

We do not have motorways, or fast roads here, it is all narrow bendy roads.

Persephone

Persephone Report 16 Oct 2014 21:42

Well you would think that common sense would prevail, but it seems not with all these silly rules that are set up in the interests of health and safety but at times are nonsensical.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2014 21:42

Persie - describe to me what Cambridge is like please.
I would enjoy toast and honey if there's any spare thank you.
The mini mouse sounds interesting :-D

Linda the nurses are not authorised to alter the insulin level. Doesn't make sense, but there you are.
The nurse I met yesterday was Romanian, with very limited English .
I can only assume that she knows her job.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2014 21:36

That is silly, you would think yje nurse could do that, assuming they have a nurse for the nursing beds of course

Persephone

Persephone Report 16 Oct 2014 21:36

This is our halfway house Tec.. it used to be our morning tea stop when we went to Cambridge to have a look at houses there.. "Cambridge is the place for me" I sing that to the tune from Greenacres ...

He is in the shower so I am going to make toast, choice is a bit dismal vegemite, black currant jam, honey or his diabetic marmalade. I will have my coffee later, on the way back to the rat race. So if you are up for toast that is what you will get.

Did I tell you I have a mini mouse? I can even use it when I put it in my pocket it is red and can zoom all over the place and sometimes falls off the desk.
