Hello my friends :-). Horrible weather this morning- actually colder than Hobart.

Maisie was very pleased to see us and spent the evening on my lap. She was well looked after by my son who said she was very cuddly while we were gone.

I'm sorry you have had a relapse with your knee Linda - rest rest rest :-|

I hope the review meeting goes well, Tec.

True, but I do have some cinema admin to do.That was what I was going to use the computer for this morning. I will do it tomorrow instead

Tecwyn Report 14 Oct 2014 22:18

Your knee has demanded a lazy day - you must listen to it, and behave. You do not need to clean the windows tonight - they will do :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Oct 2014 22:09

I was supposed to do cinema duty tonight, but someone else did it for me, so I have had a lazy day

As you know, I do have reservations about the home, but I think it would be disastrous to move OH now.
It is inevitable I suppose that she will eventually be moved to a proper EMI unit. I am dreading that, but she isn't that bad yet to justify that.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Oct 2014 22:00

I hope the meeting goes well tomorrow and they don't want to move her. Now you have been able to start visiting regularly, they might be more likely to let her stay

I think I will have to "borrow" the neighbours garden waste bin next week.

I was so pleased to get a positive response from the new dog. She is such a nervous little thing. I think it helped that she watched Milo take his biscuit from me, and nothing terrible happened to him.
Be interesting to see if she is as brave tomorrow.

They can't come for their biscuits in the morning as I have to attend the quarterly review meeting at the nursing home, with doctors, social services etc :-0

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Oct 2014 21:45

Hello Tec, I think you need an extra bin for all of your garden waste

I am glad that the new dog is taking to you, although that means you are going to have to buy twice as many biscuits now

Tecwyn Report 14 Oct 2014 21:30

Sue glad to see that you are safely back, but sorry you have come home to bad weather.
Sounds like you had a lovely time with Aiden and his dad. Maybe they will come over to visit you in the summer.

Linda I'm sorry that your knee has let you down again. Maybe you should have been sent for a scan last week :-(
Good that you have been excused kitchen duty, and I hope that you will appreciate OHs culinary efforts.

Berona I'm sure that you are an excellent cook, and must be to have kept your sons with you into their thirties.
Should you invite me to afternoon tea, can I request cucumber sandwiches on brown bread, freshly baked scones, strawberry jam, and cream :-D.

Elizabeth surely you are teasing with your description of your cooking. I expect in reality you are the Delia of your neighbourhood, with family and friends flocking to your table :-D

I can cook if I set my mind to it, and quite enjoy it, but can't be bothered much these days.

My brother and SIL visited today. He attacked the magnolia tree that had seriously outgrown its space. now greatly reduced which has made a huge difference. Don't suppose it will flower very well next Spring, but it had to be done.
Now I have a huge pile of stuff to cut up and get rid of.

The new dog next door overcame her fear of me today and actually took a biscuit from me. It has taken a week to get her confidence. After that I was allowed to stroke her.
I think that she needs to be slowly introduced to as many men as possible, until she learns that they are not a threat.

I have managed to stay upright both times Sylvia, but I did fall down in the snow a couple of times in our last bad winter

Hi Sue, and everyone

Linda ................ sorry to hear you've had a relapse.

Please don't do what I did when my knee was something like yours ..........

........... it gave way just after I had got off the bus, and I fell ever so gracefully ( :-D ) across the sidewalk ................. on one of the busiest main roads in the city :-(

I managed to get up, and limp the block to home, and then into bed.

One very kind lady did a round-the-block drive to catch me up and see if she could help by driving me home.

Talk about embarrassed!

Physio day today ........... and after raining hard all afternoon, evening and overnight, the sun is presently shining. Please let the sunny period last :-)

While oH was out, I got up, so have been good, sitting with my knee up on the sofa and playing games. I have improved my ranking in my favourite game to fifth in the UK. I know I should be doing something more productive, I am going to start work on my tree again soon

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Oct 2014 11:36

Just a damaged ligament Berona. I have an appointment to go back next week to see how it is getting on. He will decide whether to send me to the knee clinic then for further tests.

OH has been planning his menus for the next few days, that is a miracle as he normally only buys one meal at a time. He has gone into town to buy the things from the butchers. He seems to assume he is doing the cooking, which is fine by me

Berona

Berona Report 14 Oct 2014 11:17

Hello again. Just came in to put the computer to bed and saw Sue asking me if I'm getting the storm.......YES....I really am this time. It hasn't lasted long and is rolling away now. Not so much rain this time. We had one last night at about the same time and we had a lot more rain with it. ... Oops - still getting some thunder.

Linda - did your doctor say what it was that is wrong with your knee? I would be wanting more tests if he can't decide exactly what it is. I have known those symptoms to be the same for quite a number of ailments.

Must go. I alway turn off my computer when storms are around and here I am, too busy chatting to get away from it. Take care everyone.

Oh hello Sue we posted at the same time. It is a shame you had to leave Aiden but Maisie must be pleased to see you. Did your son look after her while you were away?

Just when I thought my knee was so much better, I have had a relapse. As I sat down at my desk, it gave way again. I ended up throwing the bowl of Muesli and milk I was carrying all over the desk, mercifully it missed the laptop.

OH came rushing to see what I had done and has cleaned all the mess up. I have been sent back to bed for not being careful :-( he has allowed me to have my iPad so I can amuse myself.

Elizabeth, Tec is actually quite a good cook when he tries, it must be difficult to bother when you are on your own though

SueMaid Report 14 Oct 2014 10:23

Hello :-) I'm back!!!

Can't believe your cooking is so bad, Elizabeth :-). I'm an unenthusiastic cook but love cooking when we have guests. It's the day to day cooking that I don't like. Linda is a marvelous cook and her OH isn't too bad either :-D

Berona - are you getting this dreadful storm that has hit us? Such strong winds and torrential rain :-(

Berona

Berona Report 14 Oct 2014 04:53

Hello all. Had to laugh at your explanations of your own cooking. You really can't be that bad, I'm sure.
I loved cooking and put an effort into every meal. My friends say that it's why my three boys didn't leave home until they were in their thirties.

As for height - I, too, lost 10cm (4inches). Doc said it was a lot, but not abnormal. Also, I had my thyroid removed about twelve years ago and the weight piled on after that - so naturally, the feet spread to one and a half sizes larger.

It's called OLD AGE. Well, it's a good excuse and I use it all the time now. I don't cook much at all these days, now that I'm on my own. Mostly buy McCain's readymade dinners. Just do a slow-cook batch of old favourites occasionally and have one portion fresh, then freeze the rest.

OH is in charge of cooking in this house :-)

and thus of the Thanksgiving dinner

I do casseroles .................. he does most everything else :-D

Hi Elizabeth ........

you can't be that bad!!

It sounds like my brother's widow :-)

mind you ............... she was also called Elizabeth :-D

but she came from Scotland.

She used to fry slices of Christmas pudding ..............

and also fry slices of her porridge, it was that stiff and concretey :-D

Dear Tec

Hello

My cooking is really so bad, people have tried to parachute out of the house.

And that is just the family!

Our street is out on high alert for evacuation if I so much as mention
cooking a roast dinner. :-S

I have to put labels on the food.

Dumplings are like concrete, lumpy custard and gravy!

What can I say?!!

Take gentle care, Tec
Best wishes
Elizabeth,
xx
