Linda .............

I read a description somewhere yesterday or Friday that Ms Murray (Andy's mother) had been asked if she had rigor mortis, she was so stiff when dancing :-)

:-D :-D

Just imagine ............ the romance of a sunset evening at sea, and a handsome ship's officer asking you to dance

Oh be still, my beating heart :-D

Tecwyn Report 12 Oct 2014 21:16

Don't think I was ever Prince Charming :-D but was kept busy :-D

It's great fun dancing on a ship when it gets rough. Everyone gets shot down one end of the dance floor, then back down the other end.

Diamond bedecked ladies look less than glamerous sp when in a heap on the floor :-D

You must have made the cruise for the poor wall flowers :-D

Twirling? :-D

more like trudging :-D

but I never trod on anyone's toes :-0

I can just imagine you in your uniform twirling round the dance floor

The Duchess is prone to quite bad chest infections at this time of year, so I hope it's not the start of that, as she can get quite ill.

Yes, I'm sure we could dance better than some of them, who appear to be clueless,
When I was working we had to do our stint on the dance deck, this was done by rota, and in our free time if not on watch during the evening.
The idea was to identify any "wallflowers" who appeared not to have a partner.
We had a fantastic orchestra who could play anything from orchestral chamber music, jazz, and an amazing dance band.
Curiously many of the band were from Switzerland.

This duty was not popular after a twelve hour watch, we just wanted to go to bed, not dance till midnight
:-D

I thought they would strip the rest of the paper for you

I hope the Duchess won't be too ill.

Despite being two old crocks, I think we could still give some of those on Strictly a run for their money :-D

Thanks for the invitation Sylvia,

I do have an open invitation to visit friends in your city - maybe one day, you never know :-)

It was foggy here this morning, but quite a nice afternoon, OH washed the car and did some gardening. It did rain at one stage, but nothing like your monsoon Sylvia

Tecwyn Report 12 Oct 2014 20:39

Hello Linda,

Well, what with you and your dodgy knee, and me with one leg, people would pay to see us dancing :-D.

My daughter and SIL were busy all weekend. The took the big wardrobes out of the alcoves in the bedroom, and even stripped the paper behind them, so all the paper is stripped now, and I can start the painting of the woodwork.

Then they transferred the tubs that had flowers, but now dead, from the front garden to the back, and picked up all the hedge cuttings to put in the council bin that goes tomorrow. The bin was stuffed full :-D

This morning they went to visit the Duchess. She was fine, apart from having a sore throat apparently.
I will visit on Wednesday.

Glad there has been some improvement in your knee, but be careful

"monsoon" is a bit what it sounded like on our skylight yesterday morning ..................

I didn't get up to look at it

BUT there were many big, and deep, puddles in the various car parks around town when we did go out

Hi Tec .............

hop on the plane ............... we'll lay a place for you :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Oct 2014 20:26

Berona will get cross if you dance with anyone but her Tec. In any case my knee isn't up to it

Freezing the turkey is a good idea Sylvia

I bet your daughter managed to do lots of jobs for you Tec. Did they manage to go and see the Duchess?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Oct 2014 20:22

Hello Sylvia, :-)

Your turkey dinner sounds very nice. I almost asked if there was a spare place at your table for someone who appreciates good food :-D

Today was a lovely warm sunny day, with the most fantastic sunset across the bay this evening.
By contrast, yesterday was awful. We practically had a monsoon.
My daughter and SIL drove into town and some of the shops were closed while they baled out flood water.

Hi Sue, and everyone

Hi Tec xx

We had pouring rain yesterday morning (after it had rained all night) ........ it suddenly got heavier, and the noise of it on the skylight woke us up!!

Then the tap was turned off about 2 hours later .............. and the sun shone for the rest of the day :-)

Not so nice today, and tomorrow (Thanksgiving Day) is expected to be wet :-(

The half turkey weighs 7½ lbs :-0

We decided not to have potatoes, but OH will do the yams, roast parsnips, and brussels sprouts.

It will probably last most of the week :-)

But we have discovered that it is possible to slice breast meat and freeze packages of 1 or 2 portions of it ................... then thaw and re-heat later for a turkey dinner, or for turkey sandwiches.

Nothing will be wasted :-)

Linda .............. glad to hear that your knee is getting better. xxx

May I have this dance?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Oct 2014 19:32

Well the end of another day. OH watched the boring England match. Despite the fact they won, I thought they were hopeless, I mean they were playing against ten men and still only scored one. Still Downton is on later I can watch that

I always watch Strictly on Saturday night, but I look up who gets eliminated on a spoiler thread on Saturday night as I am not bothered about the results show on Sunday which they try to pretend is live even though they record it on Saturday straight after the first show

Yes, Sue, I knew you were joking.

Linda, I hope the protests over there are successful in stopping the agreement going through, but I fear there are some strong-arm tactics and private deals (financial) or threats being made behind closed doors.
