LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Oct 2014 22:45

That was probably the alcohol you had consumed

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 10 Oct 2014 22:44

It wouldn't be allowed Linda :-)

You'd have been confined to your cabin until you had composed yourself.

Even the most sicky people are usually alright by the time they get to Gibraltar.

I was once seasick on the Menai Straits :-D

The ships are now much too big, carry far too many passengers.

The ships I worked on were grand old ladies, run to five star hotel standard, sometimes better, no glitter, no bingo, now shows, but they did have top world class entertainers,
They didn't cater for holidaymakers, but passengers on a voyage - or a world cruise.

We got to know the passengers, and it was altogether different to the modern floating carnivals

With plastic tables :-D

I hate the thought of the modern cruises,so does OH. O know a lot of people like them, but they are not for us

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 10 Oct 2014 22:23

You'd soon get your sea legs.

I was watching a programme earlier about a very large cruise ship. It was so awful.
Like a floating holiday camp :-0

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Oct 2014 22:17

Oh no, I get sea sick

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 10 Oct 2014 22:14

You could always stowaway on a ship :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Oct 2014 22:10

I think they expect you to pay for the ticket

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 10 Oct 2014 22:09

You could always jump on a plane :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Oct 2014 22:06

Oh well, I won't get there in that case :-(

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 10 Oct 2014 22:04

Tasmania is so lush and green :-)

I don't think they send convicts to the Colonies anymore :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Oct 2014 21:53

Good evening Tec. Tasmania sounds wonderful, but I doubt I will ever see it. Unless I am naughty and am sent there as a convict of course

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 10 Oct 2014 21:12

Good Evening Linda :-)

Yes I expect Sue is far too busy enjoying herself in Hobart.

I wish I were there. Tasmania is my favourite Australian State, beautiful.

but I am happy living beyond the fringe :-D

Huia I had no idea you were such a rebel :-D

Good luck to you if you feel strongly enough against the proposed free trade agreement TPPA.
Even if you are a lone voice, far better to make a stand for what you believe in, rather than sit back and just accept everything your government proposes.

Here in the UK we had a Prime Minister, Edward Heath, who held a referendum as to whether we should join the European Common Market.
The referendum came out in favour of the proposal, and we became members of the European Union.
It looked good originally. Free trade with our European partners, less restrictions on imports/exports, creating many jobs in industry and other benefits.

Unfortunately, the EU now dominates from HQ in Brussels. Many of us feel that too many faceless foreign bureaucrats are running our country. They have become our masters. Our elected government has become emasculated, and are obliged to follow the dictates as issued by Brussels.
For example, should we want to deport an undesirable foreign national, they appeal to the European Court of Human Rights, who then rule against the British courts.
It took ten years to finally deport one nasty individual.

What began as a cosy little club, benefitting members, has grown into a monster.
Our present government have promised another referendum, should they be re-elected next May, asking should we now leave the EU, such is the strength of feeling in the UK against European domination of our country.

NZ needs to be very wary of what the TTPA is all about before entering into something it may regret later.
Good luck with your campaign - I admire your stand, whether you are right, or wrong.
