If the Transcription agrees with the actual census page then they wont change it . What you may have on a birth cert or marriage cert is irelevant if the head of house has written something different .
Slightly off subject but on the same line I have a marriage cert where the parties were illterate so the vicar spelt the surnames as he heard them ,way off beam with hubby who was a Dartnell but was listed as Dartner, and the bride who was Hetterley but listed as Etterley ,cant be changed cos thats what the original marriage cert lists them as.
Many the time we see wrong spellings on prevoius census because the enumerator spelt the names as he heard them

Hi Derek,

Up to now I've notified them of four inaccuracies and on two of them they agreed there had been a mistranscription, one was Loe instead of Zoe. With the other two, even if you can prove the name is wrong through a certificate they won't amend the transcription if the transcription is correct but the information to be transcribed is wrong. I've just checked but it's not been updated yet, they certainly don't believe in rushing.

I submitted a correction,took a long time but they did change it.

Hi Derek, yes, I found four transcription errors in the first 10 records I looked at and they said they would change them. Haven't been back yet to see if they have, though.

If you bought the images you would have a clearer idea of why the transcriptions differ from your research.

Since I downloaded about 8 transcripts of my ancestors I have submitted 10 suggested corrections, in most cases based on certificates that I have. In every case I've had a negative response "we think the transcript show a good interpretation of the image. Has anyone had a "yes we'll change it" answer?
