Considering the number of older people who are housebound, not through ill health, but because they have no one to take them out. Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can find out where and who these people are so a group of us can visit and help them.
Many thanks, Helen.

Perhaps the Health Visitor /Social Services/Age Concern would know of people needing help.

There are befriending schemes in some cities and towns. Why not write to a local newspaper in the letters page and ask about such schemes, or as someone suggested, ask at Age Concern etc?
Or you could contact a warden at a sheltered housing scheme and ask if they know of anyone who has no visitors and would like someone to talk to etc.

You do have to be so careful these days, lots of schemes want crb checks done I think.

Helen,

This is such a lovely idea but please be aware that it may be necessary to have Police check, usually called a POVA, Protection of Vulnerable Adults, and this does have a financial cost. Also be aware that the purpose of this is to protect not only the person who is being visited but also to provise protection for the visitor.

Certailnly in care homes either residential or nursing this is a requirement and I believe it is alo a requirement for sheltered housing schemes etc.
