it's not just helicopters, it,s the basic simple things , equipment, uniforms to suit the tempratures.
and i agree the chopper issue is a points scoring matter and agree that whoever is in power things would be the same.

Though I'm not a fan of this government, I'm not sure the opposition would be looking after men and women much better, although they are of course making the most of the helicopter thing to score political points now it's hit the media.

A giant lack of foresight, like buying helicopters without the software to make them fly realistically( to the conditions to be encountered)have been in store for YEARS!!

The government have to save the money for the REAL needy people, like all the big bosses who crash businesses and have to be pensioned off.
Not to mention huge bonuses that other bosses get.

who the real threat to our troops are , not the taliban or the creeping menace of islam but our own government .
Time after time they have been told by respected military leaders , Sir Richard Dannatt , General Mike Jackson , Colonel Tim Collins etc what is needed out there , still they choose to ignore (dannatt was called a **** yesterday for presumingly trying falsely to further his career (he retires next month for god's sake ).
Yesterday the PM quoted Lt Col Nick Richardson a mod press officer in Helmand who said the British forces had the numbers and equipment they needed ( there again he would would'nt he).
Dated vehicles not fit enough to survive road side bombs , lack of equipment and a dire shortage of helicopters, chinook and apache strike gunboats .
My youngest son came home on his R and R not so long ago after 5 months and said we can't win ( i withhold comment )
As another 8 young men were repatriated yesterday pleae spare a thought for our young men and women doing a great job with nothing
