Outside Bristol Zoo there is a car park for 150 cars and 8 coaches.
There also used to be a very pleasant attendant with a ticket machine charging cars £1 and coaches £5.

This parking attendant worked there for all of 25 years , then one day just didn't turn up for work...
"Ho hum", said Bristol Zoo Management - "better phone up the City Council and get them to send a new parking attendant" ......
"Err no", said the Council, "that car park is your responsibility" ...

"Err no", said Bristol Zoo Management, "the attendant was employed by the City Council, wasn't he?" .....

"Err NO!"

Sitting in his villa in Spain is a bloke who had been taking daily the car park fees amounting to an estimated £400 per day at Bristol Zoo for the last 25 years...

Is that really true Brenda? Where did you get it from?

I read that somewhere a few weeks ago, dont know if it was in the world section of the newspaper or if it was sent to me as an email. It certainly sounds as if it could be genuine, the way some departments 'work'.

Huia.

Brenda...What a story!

You wonder if this individual meant to keep up this scam for such a long time. He took a gamble that no one sussed him earlier.

Although I do not condone what he did, he seemed to provide a service, that no one challenged, and were all happy to pay for........

.......Well done Sun Loving Parking Attendant!

I watched a programme the other week. It was about con men. one of them went round car parks and as the people got their tickets, he would go up to them and ask if they were staying for more than 4 hr i think it was.
Well anyway he said if they paid £5 now that would be it. so he took their £5,stamped their tkt and he put the £5 in his pocket.

He would do that in the same car park till he had collected a fair bit, then go away before they came back.
When they did come back their tk was no good so they had to go and pay whatever the amount was they were due.

He would then move on to another car park.wearing his yellow coat etc.

Nice to read all your comments on this story.
It actually came from my friend in Oz who has a friend in Bristol and I presumed he got it from her.
I couldn't believe it could be true......or???these days who knows!
