Love em, but which is the proper way to put your jam and clotted cream on your scone? Is is Jam first or cream first?

I'm Jam first myself....

Hmmm thinking about it, my last one was five years ago, stopped off in Asda in Ipswich ...

The last one I had before that was.....errr......ummm.......at least 15 years ago in Dorset. OMG! If that's the case, I have some catching up to do.

Cream teas are one of life's treasures. lol

I was just watching To Buy or Not to Buy, and he was putting the cream on first...and got told off for it. I just wondered if there was a right way or wrong way to do it lol

It just has to be jam first.Jam with actual strawberries, none of your smooth jam.
Only Devon and Cornwall do the real thing.I find cream teas anywhere else just not up to scratch lol.It can only be thick clotted cream too.
I am now going to have to go and buy some clotted to go with my strawberries.I have double, but I don't think that will be good enough now !!!

Any Way you like it .I have seen some spread cream like butter and jam on top, especially if home made with lots of strawberries, cos strawberries don't spread,OR if you really really like Cream its other way around.
Best Teas so far: Portland Bill = Warm Scone's as they cook them throughout day,
Little tea shop in Glastonbury.
Tower cafe at Sidmouth .
Son found two other places to put on list will have to ask him again where.
Have you guessed? My family LOVE Cream Teas.
Good Hunting a lovely summer past time,if you can afford it these day's.When will they learn that to keep putting price up makes people stay away

This brings back memories!

The last time I had cream tea was with my late Dad back in 1999 the year before he passed. I remember that he was upset as we had to wait ten minutes for our tea while the cream melted on the jam and when the tea finally arrived it was cold.

Bless him!

Hampshire do some good cream teas too. There was a little cafe in Burley which uses Cornish clotted cream and home-made jam on warm scones, and proper loose-leaf tea in the pot, with tea strainers!

Another cafe on the cliff edge at Barton on Sea did some lovely ones, but I think the cafe may be on the beach by now, it was closed last time I went there.
