My daughter has the swine flu and is in isolation at home along with her 3 month old baby who was IVF baby has a lot of phlegm on chest and coughing, all things have to be left on her doorstep, she wont even let me come to take the baby,I phone her twice a day but it still scares me. She is on the TAMIFLU medication.

Oh Emmy lets hope she'll be Ok. I think the newspaper keep putting out the worse case scenarios which don't help at all. My son lives on his own and I'm having nightmares about how he would cope on his own if he gets it.
What we have to concentrate on is the fact that the vast majority of people get over it quite well.

Wishing you all well

Eb, dont get alarmed, the Tamiflue are very good, my daughter had it just over a week ago and she is fine now going into work on Monday,if Your daughter has a thermometer, just to keep a check on the babiys temp, in fact everyone would be advised to have one... I will be thinking of you and your family.....

Emmy. Thinking of your daughter, her baby, and the rest of the family.
I think she should be ok, as if she was at any serious risk, she would be in hospital.
She's doing the right things in keeping the baby at home with her, as she is being sensible, as she is containing the virus within her own home.
I know you are worried, but at least you can speak to her, and can get reports on how she is.

Wishing her and her baby well, and a speedy recovery.

Try not to worry too much hon.

I don't think they run tests any more Mac, just ring your surgery and tell them your symptoms

Hope your daughter gets better soon Emmy.

Old Geezer, if you have flu symptoms with a really high fever, contact your doctor's surgery straight away.
They will probably get you to go into the back entrance of the surgery where they will take swabs from you, the results come back within 2 days, but in most cases they will give you Tamiflu straight away.

Good luck.

Sorry forgot to say..if they give you Tamiflu then make sure you take them on a full stomach (a bit hard I know when you feel rough) otherwise they will make you throw up.

Sorry, I meant that you take the tablets after you have eaten something.

Hope your daughter feels better soon - it must be so hard with a baby.

Someone in the office we have (just) move into is off with Swine flu.
If anyone at work gets it, they have to take extended sick leave - until a week after all symptoms have cleared up.

Just to thank you all for your support,I just feel useless the baby was unwell for two days before my daughter, she took baby to dr,they said due to her age just give her calpol,I then rang the following day (im in Spain)and good god my daughter could hardly speak her throat sounded raw,she rang the drs they told her over phone what was wrong, she had to get a flu buddy to go collect medication.

My sister I rang this morning and I ask her to get supplys for her ie lemsips pholcodine and plenty of fluids, but daughter wont let anyone in so it was all left on the doorstep and sister rang my daughter from garden gate to collect items from the front door.

I spoke to her at 5-30pm today she had eaten a light meal which made me feel a bit better said she was going to bed to rest,I will ring her again in the morning, told her I was flying over she told me she would not lt me in as I to am a high risk, what can I do except trust in God.
Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts advise and best wishes to my two little girls, much appreciated.
love to you all

Hi Emmybaby, I do hope your daughter will feel lots better soon and little one will be fine.
Will be about next week without o.h. mon to thurs evening if you want to ring me.

Take care of yourself and stay where you are for the mo, you don't want to be breathing in any other germs from air con on planes, better for you to stay where you are and well so you can help later one if needed, maybe your daughter will feel run down afterwards and need a bit of support then.

Yes, I was thinking about them too.

Whose are all the deletions on this thread? I can't think why people have to delete posts on a thread that is only a week or so old.

Emmybaby, I hope they are recovering OK.
