Rumbling thunder here today, got me remembering... "That's just angels/God getting the coal in again" ! (It does sound like coal going down a shute) That was always said to us as kids.- Presumably so we weren't scared of it. There must be many more of these words of wisdom out there. What about regional expressions? Round here, one is " He's as deaf as a gate stayle". |
