Do you think it is possible to inherit some of our ancestors memories?

For instance when you go to a place that you have not been before but you feel that you have.

I do get a thrill seeing places my ancestors lived, but maybe it's because I know beforehand that they have lived there.

I felt a strong affinity to a place we holidayed once, but as yet have found no ancestors that link to it.

Yes definitely. I think there's a word for it but I can't remember what it is

Thank you Susanwithnumbers - really interesting. I thought I was told another name for it but I'm not sure...

My sister is in her mid 40's now and from a very early age has a fear of being drowned. We grew up on the coast and are all very strong swimmers almost about the same time we could walk, we learnt the old fashioned way keep throwing you in the harbour and the dog will bring you out till you learn to swim.

She has since she had the choice always lived in citys and at the top of hills, no one else has a fear of water like she has - I think it could well be be a memory thats not hers.

She will refuse to move to a house that has a chance of flooding and her drowning! Very odd but I love her - she even dreampt of a flood just last week and rang me as I live in the West Counrty where it tends to flood a tiny bit.

Funny though when we were kids we moved to london and no other kids could swim - they had lessons at school and were were like fish, we knew almost from birth, she won a lot of medals from swimming at school but still fears drowning!
