I found it by googling Meduck.......what I found was that Louis l6th was preceeded by his Grandfather Louis 15th, who was the Gt. Grandson of Louis 14th......the Sun King.....

.....don't know anything about French history, but looking it up on Wilkipaedia makes it interesting.....

Thanks for that Moonchild, with the programme showing how much money he was spending and the fact that "I think" poor v rich was what started the revolution, I expected them to say it was him.
Perhaps I should have paid more attention at school!!

Louis 16th I think Meduck, but don't know if he was a descendant of the Sun King........might well be, he had many children......

Can you settle an argument, which French King was on the throne when the French Revolution started. Was it one of Louis 1V children?

Thoroughly enjoyed the programme. Having visited the beautiful Palace of Versailles, I must say the hall of mirrors must have looked amazing in it's heyday. Must have been hard times for men working on the building.

Also interesting to learn about the fountains being switched on and off,( due to lack of water,)whenever the King was walking by,We were disappointed to see them off too, as they're only on at certain times of day (and hadn't been informed) :O(
Agree costumes were fantastic.Smashing programme!

I saw part of the programme blackrose, and had to switch over to something else, and I was already taping another programme......

The costumes were out of this world, the colours and materials, and his court was the most flambouyant in Europe.......I also liked it because it was filmed in his native tongue, and in France, with subtitles......which made it more real for me.....

Lovely programme......just up my street......

Did anyone watch the wonderful programme last night on BBC2. It brought back fond memories of visit to the wonderful palace of versailles and the costumes were out of this world. Anyone think they might related to Louis as it would seem there was a lot of illegitimate children
