A big notice has gone up in a local chemist's window. If you think you have flu you are not allowed to enter the shop and they are directing everyone to the Swine Flu Advice Line phone number.

Pity, because I have got the sniffles and was going to go in tomorrow for some Lem Sip capsules.

Easy answer stand directly outside their entrance and sneeze every time a potential customer approaches and oink, when they have NO business they will take down the notice!

What is the advice phone number?...just had a phone conversation with son who it seems has flu with a vengence and needs to contact them.

Just read the notice properly. Apparently we are allowed tp phone the chemist though.

I think the flu friend is not supposed to have direct contact with the patient or enter the house.

By the way, do people have to pay a prescription charge for tamiflu? Just out of interest.

Surely, if you had flu, you would NOT be at the chemist's door. You wouldn't have made it out of bed?

I remember a doctor saying that you can tell the difference between a bad cold and flu without being diagnosed.

If you saw a £10 note laying in your garden and went out and picked it up you have a cold :)))

flu buddies CAN be in contact with the 'victim' - it can be your mum/dad/husband etc.

best place to ring is your GP or their out of hours service (this should be on a recorded message at the surgery) and they will advise you on if they think you have it and if they think you need tamiflu.

obviously they can only guess as they won't see you and you won't be tested. in the meantime, paracetamol, plenty of fluids and remain isolated at home for 3-5 days. rest of household, however, can go about their lives as normal unless they are showing symptoms.

it's all a bit beyond me really !!

I work with a friend ...and as two of mine have had it ....he rang NHS .......and left a message for a call back coz he thought he may have it and wanted to visit a young child ........

NHS direct rang back at 12.45 in the morning!!!!!

This flu at tha moment isnt knocking people like "we" think it should ......

its just like a bad cold .......
