Had come to a bit of a stop in my research, having come to the end of one of my lines - happened to be just clicking randomly around my tree just to see if there were any other points I could start from and noticed that my maternal grandfather's father was born in Worksop, Notts in June 1881; and two of my paternal grandfather's father's siblings were born in Worksop between 1882-4, so I looked both sets of gx2 grandparents up on the 1881 Census.

Sure enough, both families were in Worksop, and upon entering both street names from the census into Google Maps, I find they're only a couple of miles apart! Wonder if they knew eachother...
