Any ideas for getting rid of that 'new settee ' smell ?
Only had it 2 weeks and it is quite overpowering when i walk in the door, keeping windows open, any other ideas?

What's it made of Rose?

a solution of bicarbonate of soda in cold water should help, but it does depend what its made of....just take a damp cloth over it.

Or alternatively, bicarb, lemon juice, a drop of lemon oil and cold water in a spray bottle, spray it like Febreeze...just lightly. (also makes a good air freshener.)

It's fabric Teresa , an embossed heavy linen / tweed ? ( ish lol)
bicarb is a good idea though , even if I just put a couple of little bowls of it like I do in the fridege :))

then add a little methylated spirit to the cloth and rub

it will smell till awful till the next day then it will of evaporate off

I like the smell of Yankee Candles, that will blot out the vinegar, cat pee, lemon juice, wet dog etc and perhaps the new Settee smell.

The candles actually smell like they're supposed to unlike other candles when you light them.

Hide some of those gel fresheners behind ornaments / photos eg. Neutrodol

Fresh air is probably the best answer though.Try to get a draught blowing through the room.

We recently had the same problem with in-laws new carpet.

Mine has long since got rid of it's new smell so, just because I'm so nice, I'll do you a swap, and I'll bravely cope with the whiff.
