Thankyou all for replying . I will take my parents birth certs , marriage cert and mine and see what happens as i cannot see how else i can prove this .

Thankyou for replying, my mum gave me my 1st certificate but i lost it, i have a copy of my certificate with my now name on and my parents marriage certificate ,i will maybe have to get a copy of the 1st one as well.

Not sure what level of security you are talking about, but your new birth certificate and a copy of your parents marriage cert. should be proof enough, I would think.

I would think they'll be wanting a document to prove that your name was legally changed - haven't actually come across this before but I imagine that (if you've got both certificates) they would count as documentary evidence that it's you. After all, it would be a huge coincidence for somebody with your name and your mother's name to have been born on the same day as you and in the same place - surely they would see that.

I was born in 1980 my parents were not married so my mum registered me in her maiden name ,when they later married they re registered me in my dads name this has not been a problem before but i had to apply for a security pass and they are saying i need papers to prove why my surname was changed . Not sure how to do this wondered if anybody else has been in this situation . sorry its a long ask
