Thanks Carol for that explanation.......very similar to the one in MY oxford dictionary......

NOW............to whom would those descriptions apply?

ME of course,
because I am sensible......I know when not to walk in the road. I know that fire n flames are dangerous........unlike the copper that tasered a bloke suspected of sniffing petrol..while he was actually carrying the petrol can........personally I think the copper was an idiot......the bloke allegedly exploded........in flames, but I guess that that was better than actually shooting the guy with a 9mm bullet?

In a week which has seen the last two British WW1 veterans die, Messrs Allingham and Patch, I thought I would let you know the original of this thread's title.

During the attrition of the trenches at Passchendaele on the Ypres battlefield in Belgium, the troops used to say:

"Will the last man alive please shut the Menin Gate."

It seems as those two wonderful men have now closed it.
