Swine Flu update

I do feel sorry for anyone who has had it, but in my opinion it's 'flu - no better or worse than regular 'flu.
But the media are, for some reason, blowing it up out of all proportion. I can't understand why they don't make a big deal out of the thousands who die EVERY year from common 'flu.
They love a story, though, don't they. Take bird 'flu, and the big deal the papers made of it, and how we were all doomed and going to die of that!!

K
Edit;
Sorry , I've just re-read this and it sounds like I'm saying regular 'flu isn't bad. It IS bad, I've had it, and thought I was dying. What I'm trying to say is don't understand why the media are making such a big fuss of swine flu as if it's the worst ever in the whole wide world!!

I am sure it made me feel worse Marion.

I do believe lots of people are jumping on the band wagon and ringing the help line with just the sniffles.
I had to go to the doctor this morning and had a coughing fit in the waiting room because of my astma and everyone starting looking at me, getting beyond a joke isn,t it.lol

Val so sorry to hear that & hope you're feeling 100% soon.A friend of mine with asthma had Tamiflu 'cause her niece had been diagnosed with Swine Flu,she seems to be ok (fingers-crossed)

I'm sorry if this thread has upset you & will delete if you want me to.

Just wanted to say that i have had "it" and was really rough.Although i was only diagnosed by my doctor over the phone, i had the key symptoms ie high temperature aching all over dry cough and terrible headache, feeling nausea and diarrhea, i was given Tamiflu but don't think it made any difference.
It lasted for 2 weeks, but i am asthmatic so that probably made it worse as i ended up with a chest infection.
It is five weeks now and i am only just starting to get back to normal.

I know of 2 people, both children who had confirmed cases...............neither of them were very poorly thank goodness.

They had blood tests as they have siblings with major health problems.

I do think it is ridiculous that anyone who sneezes is now panicking that they have the 'flu

JoyBoroAngel Report 27 Jul 2009 16:33

most people just think they have it
it is been blown out of proportion big time
but this is just my opinion
