Whitsuntide Monday in May was another popular day for weddings. Again because those concerned were on one of their very few days off. |

I think it is also possible the vicar waived his fee on Christmas Day, so that would have made it the best option for many people. |

Yes, that is exactly why they married on Christmas Day, they were not working. There was not much money and they could combine the festivities. Christmas was a very popular day to be married on, it began following the Restoration. Christmas had been abolished by Cromwell. |
