Hi Diane,
To check how someone is related to yourself. There is a chart here on GR:

Click on the Hot Matches icon,

In the new screen, on the right hand side half way down, there is a "How are you related?" box.

Within this text, there is a "View Chart" icon. Click on this.

This will bring up a chart of how to work out how relations are relate to yourself.
