I survived the night with no more sightings..........lol

I'm the same with moths Suzian.....it's the fat bodied ones with madly whirring wings ( that always head straight for me ) .

My Mum wasn't scared of spiders at all , neither was my Dad , so I don't know where I got it from. I've always tried to hide the fear from my kids ( and can get one in a glass if I steel myself ). My eldest gets the full blown screaming ab-dabs if she sees one in her flat.............lol

SueM and Allan - you can speak for yourselves on this subject!

This brave Aussie kills every spider with brute force (usually a shoe) and doesn't even want to know what kind it was before it is brushed up and flushed down the loo - and I stand and watch it to make sure it goes!

I know we have harmless ones, but we have killers too so I take no chances. I'm very humane - very quick - only seconds from find to flush.

Lol..Sorry, but I just had to laugh.

I do believe that our fears are printed into our dna. My grandma was just under five feet and a fearless woman but an itsy, bitsy, teeny, weenie spider would have her crawling around on her hands and knees until it was found and squashed.

Same with my sister and eldest son, lol.. both hold black belts in karate but a little spider can take them down.

Now snakes on the other hand are a "whole other kettle of fish".
I came close to drowning in the river once because a snake swam past me, gives me goose bumps...

Now moths - there's a different matter - no amount of spraying Ellnette hairspray ('cos I'm worth it) will still those beating wings. And if you turn out the light, you know that it's out there - somewhere.

I am a "speccy four eyes" and my philosophy is "if I can't see it then it can't see me"....... so I take my specs off. Works at the dentist as well. lol.

I inherited a fear of spiders from my mum.......and I'd go cold whenever I saw a decent sized one..........until I had my eldest daughter........who is a friend of all creatures.........even yukky spiders........

I was determined to break the cycle........and made myself walk away without reacting whenever a biggy appeared........

As a result both of my girls have no fear at all...........and whilst inwardly I still cringe........I just encourage them to pick them up and put them out the front door.............I tell them they are rescuing them from certain death from the dogs.........one day i'll tell them lol xx

You Aussie folk have my greatest respect , I'd be a gibbering wreak in no time at all if faced with spiders that could actually harm !!...............lol

In Australia, Amanda. We have some lovely big spiders - but it's ok. The big lizards and snakes eat them lol

We've just had the BIGGEST spider I've seen in ages in the bath.

I bet there are more lurking about the house..........looking at me with their compound eyes......... * shudders in horror *.......eeek.
