Is there any hairdressers out there that can help me out.
Every few months I have my hair streaked with dark copper and chocolate brown. After a month the colors fade into golden brown and blond which goes nicely with my natural white hair.
On Saturday day I went to the girl that always colors my hair and told her just to streak it copper and she said, "chocolate" and I repeated "No copper." Well, I am convinced that the silly girl put chocolate instead.
While my hair was still wet I noticed that it was too dark and told her and she said that she had made it a bit darker because after a few washes and the sun will tone it down. Yesterday I spent the day washing my hair and drying it it the sun and the result is dark auburn streaks mixed with blond and white, a flaming headache and a fever from the sun.
So I was wondering if I washed my hair in chamomile shampoo if it would lighten the auburn. I phoned the hairdresser and am waiting for her to call me back but I am not interested in adding another color to my hair as am afraid of the outcome.
There is so much I have to do before going on holiday on Friday but instead am going to crawl back into bed as I feel "bloody awful"
Thank you for any advice, will check back later.

Dear Lindy,As a"victim"of many a hair disaster, you can go back and insist that hairdresser puts mistake right,or you can bluff it out and say to anybody who comments that you fancied a change. Please don't LET it spoil your holiday. My Daughter has been doing mine for many years, and on one occasion last year she said she was going to do it different,as the style was to have a block of blond under parts of hair at nape of neck, and a nice flash on top, well I don't know what happened! I think she must have had her first senior moment.Cos 1she forgot how curly my hair is so "blocks" of colour didn't stay in one place! I Looked like a Piebald PONY the next day,I Also had an Appointment early that day so had no time to do anything about it,so I BLUFFED it out held my head high and let the world know this is me I LIKE BEEN DIFFERANT. Another time it went Blue Black with RED Flashes! I had a faulty bottle of dye!.BUT the effects were great I had so many compliments as my hair glowed and a was the TRENDIEST GRAN in town,my GD loved it so did all of youngest son's mates, mind you I got a lot of friendly Banter, cheeky monkeys.I had to live with that mistake as it would have cost nearly £100 to have it stripped! good luck maybe ask a GOOD Friend whose opinion you trust How you look.x

Head and Shoulders will definately strip the colour out .though it does take a little while.......and like your hairdresser says the sun will fade it quite quickly too........I haven't done hairdressing now for over 20 yrs but I'm fairly sure that camomile won't be strong enough to make too much difference to the dark bits. .... I'm wracking my brains to try and think of anything better than Head and Shoulders but short of going back and getting them to chemically strip it (really bad for your hair) I'm at a stand stil.
I'll ask about for you and let you know if anything else springs to mind .....good luckxx

I have mine done similarly Lindy and once my hairdresser did it too dark just when it mattered as I was going to a wedding the next day!! I tried a few washes and it didn't work, so I went back the next morning and she redid some of the dark strands with a lighter colour which worked very well and 'lifted' the overall effect.

Morning Ladies, Apologies for not getting back to my thread but spent all of yesterday in bed, can't remember when was the last time that I slept so much, still have a headache but at least the fever has gone, thank God. Esta, I am allergic to head and shoulders so that's out, but thanks for the suggestion. Annx, That is exactly what my hairdresser has suggested but I have a lot of very very fine hair, so I am a bit wary of having color on color as it does not take much for my hair to fall out all, I have to do is stress about it like I am doing now. :) Muffy, I am sat here with half a bottle of chamomile shampoo plastered onto my head, not that I expect it to do much except for a very luscious shine and a psychological pick me up. If something does come to mind I would appreciate it if you did let me know. ;) Flump, There is no hope in hades of getting an honest opinion out of anyone as everyone is too polite to give an honest answer. However, I shall take your advice and pretend that I am happy with my "stripped mane" and grin from ear to ear at any one that stares. I am not going to purposely do anything to spoil my holiday, so I shall just avoid mirror's, which I normally do anyway. Thank you all for your kind suggestions. Lindy xx

Lindy, a few foils mixed in to lighten the top will break the colour up a bit and lift it. I would imagine they could be left in for far less time as the hair is porous.
Go back to the hairdresser today and say how upset this has made you as its far too dark a colour and not the one you usually have. as you are going on your jollies you would appreciate if she could correct it somewhat before then, or if this isnt possible, suggest something you can use to lighten the affect.
ps just got this site via google,
http://www.nightmarehair.com/disaster5.php
Obviously exercise caution when considering some of the remedies. I wouldnt use lemon juice. My cuzzy did this to naturally lighten her hair in the sun. Her naturally blonde hair turned out like straw :o(((

I heard that T-Gel also strips the hair, but it might not work as quick as you want it to.
I hope you have a fantastic holiday Lindy and im sure your hair will look great anyway :))

Mildred,
Thanks for the site addy,
I had to laugh at some of the suggestions, there is no way I would use fairy on my hair...lol...as I would loose it all, but did like the idea of 3 parts lemon juice mixed with the conditioner.
So I am now off to wash out the chamomile shampoo that has dried on my head, use the conditioner mixed with lemon juice and then spritz on an organic "rooibos tea" hair tonic and cross my fingers and toes. Be back later with the results, if any.
Suzy,
You are so kind :)
I am obsessing too much with my hair and not on getting this house into shipshape before leaving, although I don't know why I bother as the boys are just going to make an unholy mess while we are away. I should actually be concentrating on what to pack besides toilet paper and the " medic kit " ;)
Chat later!

My hair has dried and and I can see a change, a little lighter but not much. I don't want to push my luck and land up with straw so that's it.
Thank you all for your kind suggestions, much appreciated!

Coating offending strands with lemon juice and sun-drying will lighten them........but I worry that they may turn a shade of ginger.......I think professional advice from your hairdresser is the best......

Merlin,
How could you!
Didn't anyone ever tell you that a woman's hair is her " Crowning Glory. "
A man can still get away with been bald, but in all honesty I am yet to meet a good looking bald woman ;)
Now where did I put my crown !

Know how you feel Lindy.........last year in Spain.......before I left on holiday I was in two minds as to whether the roots needed touching up or not........and as the time went on and the hair bleached lighter in the sun, they showed even more......
The day before we came home I decided to get a hair dye, and got one that I recognised from home and just shampood it in.......I left it for the prescribed amout of time, and rinsed it out........next morning it was white........I had forgotten to take into account that Spanish hair needs stronger stuff in order to 'take'.......not like my fine fly-away mop........ I couldn't wait to get home to sort it out......

Oh Dear!
I really know the feeling, I have been with the same hairdresser for the last ten years as I don't like change. My hair is also a fine, curly fly away mop and you would think that she would know better after all this time.
That is why I don't want her to touch my hair at this moment as she might just make things worse...

My hair is naturally blonde but for a few years I have been advised to keep out of the sun (I have a problem with vitamin d). I have been good for 10 years but my hair has suffered as a consequence and turned 'dish water blonde'. I use a home dye kit to lift it slightly as I cant stand my new natural shade. I put a 'colour' in early July as I had a reunion and didnt want to put it in too close to my trip to Portugal. Well, my hair is almost white blonde now after 2 wonderful weeks in the sun but the roots are still there.
I love it lol!!!
From now on I will spend as much time as possible in the sun just to ensure it stays my younger natural colour...... Since I have been on trial discharge from the hospital for a year now, I am hopeful I will recognise if I am getting any side effects!!
Hope the hair is better Lindy, I sooo miss Portugal!
love T.x

Morning T
Glad you enjoyed your holiday! Although living here is not all what it is cracked up to be.
I am not happy with white hair as it makes me look even paler then I am, I wish that my hair had turned a silver grey instead Why is it that most men look good with grey hair yet woman don't. At this moment I am more concerned about this headache that won't go away.
The travel agency called yesterday and our trip has been delayed by two days as a result of a mix up on our return flight, so we will only be leaving on Sunday morning.
That is fine by me as it gives me more time to get things done and hopefully get rid of this "sun induced headache." OH is furious!
Annx,
Your hair will look great, don't let my thread put you off as it is my "Kama" not yours :)
I am beginning to think that this holiday is jinxed or "has the evil eye" as OH likes to say, but then it would be his fault as he is teasing the hell out of his coworkers about our destination. Many of them have been as well and would love to go again, they just can't understand why he is taking the wife, " cheeky so & so's, " as none of them did.
I had better get downstairs as my washing machine is making a funny noise, that's all I need.
Chat later!
