My 16 year old daughter , along with her 3 month old baby and boyfriend have moved into their new flat .
Great news for me in lots of ways , no more being harassed every five minutes to burp the baby etc etc .
Her sister is very happy , to at long last have the bedroom all to herself ( no more worries of big sis pinching all her clothes / make-up etc etc ) .

It's a strange business when one of your kids leaves home , I think it's going to take a bit of getting used to ( especially as I'm a bit of an old Mother hen type...........lol ). Two down , two to go..........lol

I've a good few years to go til I'm at that point but I must admit I can't imagine how it would be here without either one of them.....even though being summer hols the thought is quite attractive just at the mo lol.

Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet Amanda............I bet you they'll soon be around visiting creating mess and noise before you know it !!!! xx

The thing I'm struggerling with is that it only seems like yesterday that my daughters where little girls skipping about during the school hols.
All the time that she has been here with the baby ( under our umbrella ) it hasn't seemed that real ( if that makes sense ? ).
Seeing the three of them in there lovely flat , I've seen them through different eyes I suppose .
I'm hoping with all my heart that they make a go of life as " grown ups ".
I don't feel redundant as a parent ( that never happens......lol ) and I know she'll be round in a day or so , looking in our fridge .
It's just all a bit weird and odd.............lol

The trouble with me is that I just HAVE to worry about things............lol

....Am I the only one who puts her hand out for her daughter (usually the younger of the two) to hold when we cross a street............... She's 26!!!

Elder daughter (with children) - whenever she sees me she brushes my fringe to one side and 'fuses' over my hair! 7 year old Grand daughter (daughter does it to her too!) and I moan about this 'Mother hen' trait! Gawd help me when I'm old - I'm only 53!!

Lol...Bless you Maggie.....especially the holding hands crossing the road bit........lol , that really annoys my " kids " when I do it to them : ))

I can imagine that you feel pleased and lost, all in one.

I began to think that my daughter would never move out with my grandson. They lived with us from the day he was born until he was 13, then she had the chance of hiring a nice flat, and went....just like that!
They're not far away, -about 4 miles so we see them quite often, but grandson is really close to us and although it wasn't always easy, I value the special time we shared when he was young.

I hope all works out well for your daughter and the new little family.
