Glad to hear you are sorted. Presumably Rob's suggestion to load the Vista Driver worked?

Windows 7, the new operating system, isn't due for general retail release until October, which is probably why HP haven't released any specific drivers as yet.

Are you sure this is what you have installed as your operating system, and are not confusing it with Internet Explorer 7, which is not the same thing?

Hi BF,

Microsoft are not releasing Windows 7 until 22nd October 2009. That probably accounts for why HP don't mention it in the instructions! It is also probable that the drivers for your printer using Windows 7 do not exist yet.

Hope this helps.

OK,

If you don't have a cd drive then you will need to download the driver software from the HP site.

You click on download driver software on the left then run the install once you have the software on your pc. You will need to know what operating system you have to select the correct version.

Sorry, but is is a bit techie doing it this way, so it may be best to get someone to do it for you.

Many thanks for all your replies. My problems are (1) I use a Netbook with no cd facility and (2) I use Windows Seven which HP dont seem to have much advice on!. Unfortunately, my son usually does all this stuff for me and he is out of reach!

I have found a Forum for this problem but cant understand the language! lol BC XX

I have an HP C5380. I had heaps of trouble with the size of all the files they wanted me to download and store on my computer. I contacted them via their web page and asked which of the files I absolutely had to have on my computer to make the printer work properly.

They were excellent with their advice and I was able to delete a couple of billion Mb of useless (to my way of thinking) stuff. My printer works beautifully.

By the way I use XP. And yes I too had an installation CD but the online help is also very good.

I have a psc 1355 which I bought a couple of years ago. It came with a disk, a manual plus an set guide in the form of a wall poster which took you through the installation process step by step.

Basically you put the disc in first which installs the printers driver software, prompting you at the appropriate point to plug in the printer and switch it on.

The version of Internet explorer you have is not really relevant. The installation will depend to an extent on whether you have XP or Vista as your operating system.

This link should take to the HP web-page for your printer installation.

Hi BC, I don't have an HP Printer/photo/scanner.

But mine had a CD with the instructions. This is used to download the required software onto your computer.

Regards,
Steve.

I have just bought a HP Photosmart C4400 All in One Printer, Scanner and am having a great problem getting it to work. I use Windows 7 and there does not appear to be any information from Hp with regards to installation.

Help please, and if you could speak slowly that would be even better! BC XX
