Good for you RR. Havn't been to a good auction for ages, but love the junk shops, and always have an eye for a bargain. An inherited trait from my maternal grandmother. Donkies years ago, my mother went to an auction sale in the local Town Hall with her. Grandma came away with a bowl caked in filth. She went to work on it when she got home, and it turned out to be a large Wedgewood Casper Fruit Bowl. Pale blue with the white figures on. She knew what she was looking for, did our Nellie. It had pride of place on her sideboard all her life. Now, it is making me think where it went after she died, as nothing was sold, and my mother sure as hell didn't get it, even though she was in charge of the 'estate'. Hrm, another line of history for me to chase up methinks. Thanks for reminding me.

I love going Julia, and here there is one every week :) They have some great house clearances from large old houses in the neighbourhood, so there is always some quality there as well as 'run of the mill'.

it is interesting to see where prices have held and dropped over the last few years.
I was tempted to bid on some old letters, apparently with a rather sad love story attached, but the went for over £40 ...which I have noticed before, that ephemera of all kinds is quite expensive whereas china prices have plummeted .
