You may have heard in the press that ITV have sold FriendsReunited to brightsolid for £25 million. What may not be so obvious is that GenesReunited is a sister site to FriendsReunited and is therefore part and parcel of the sale of the ‘group’. |

I am guessing they may want the 1901 census which Genes bought back in 2005.Probable cheaper than completing their own. |

The new owners plan to combine FindMyPast with Genes Reunited, a Friends’ subsidiary, and create one of the biggest genealogy sites in the country. The other bidder was U.S. company Ancestry.com (which just filed for its own IPO) for its UK sites Ancestry.co.uk. |

I was not too impressed when I found that they had taken over Scotlands people. |

I wonder if there will be a reduced all-in-one membership fee for GR, FMP and Scotland's People. Now that's something I'd consider signing up to! |

If, like me you have been less than impressed with the standard of the 1911 census - this could explain why- |

It was obvious that the transcriptions had been done overseas, just a case of establishing where. |
