Be aware though that a GEDCOM file is a text based file and will not transfer photographs etc to your disc.

If you look at the bottom of the GR website there is a link entitled "Import/export gedcom". This allows you to export (save to disc) all of the genealogy information stored in your GR tree to a standard (GEDCOM - GEnealogical Data COMmunication) format which can then be imported / uploaded to any of the many genealogy software packages and competing websites.

On a slightly more technical note you can capture, and save to disc, the output of the print tree function available when viewing your full tree on GR. Just download and install the free PrimoPDF (http://www.primopdf.com/) - or any similar print capture software - and select print tree in GR. When Windows pops up the box asking which printer to send the output to, just select the printer that has now been added to the system called 'PrimoPDF'. This lets you save the print as an Adobe PDF file containing your tree that you can email to you friends and relatives.

Mark.
