The first time I held my week old first Grandchild, indescribable. He was tiny, just over 5 pounds but beautiful and I immediately felt that tug of love.

following my stroke in early April and became paraylised down one, the first time I could squeeze my husbands hand was magical and reduced me to tears. Luckily things have moved on from then and things are improving but that moment will stay forever

I love the Autumn. The colours make me want to paint, reminisce, sing the blues...sigh...... or hold them before the winter paints everything white. Autumn colours are magical and warm...Yes, I like that...forever autumn.

Hi Amanda

Me too. Each of the season evokes its own response, don't you think?

I love the Autumn too Sue...............it just has a strange affect on me . I get the urge to write poetry and I become more reflective than usual , as well as vaguely melancholy..............lol

Rose,

I sit beside the fire and think, of older times that were before
I listen for returning feet , and voices at my door

Amanda - hi - I love autumn: it has its own special smells - as if it was waiting quietly for Christmas and the turn of the year.

On the subject of " Forever Autumn ".......could the maudlin feeling be because you can just sniff that the year has turned ?? I almost felt the first touch of Autumn and I always feel melancholy when the year turns.............but..........that only means that another spring will be returning : ))

oh Sue lol now you've done it with 'forever autumn'... the words have come straight into my head ...so I am going for a tissue and a strong coffee lol

You're right though, Rose

When Neil Young came on stage looking decidedly strange - a lumberjack shirt, no hair on the top of his head but loads of grey, whispy bits falling onto his shoulders - it was a bit like seeing your dad dancing at a party - you love him to bits, but you're ever so slightly embarrassed.

Fortunately, Crazy Horse redeemed himself

You're not being maudlin - it's just that we're all a bit "Forever Autumn"

The first time you see your child holding their child. It was an overwhelming sight to see my son holding his son with the tears of joy streaming down his face. Followed a few months later by my daughter with her first - longed for - baby.

~~~~ to Amanda
Sue, it always seems to me that however much one has aged, the singers of your youth should really have stayed young lol. All the important things in my life have particular songs or singers ...makes it hard to listen to some things now...
i am just maudlin tonight...ignore! lol
Funny you should post this, Rose.
I was chatting to friends today about my trip to the i IoW Festival and saying how strange it was to see Neil Young looking so - not young - and that most of the important things in life I'd done for the first time, I'd done to the music of Neil Young!
The first coffee in the morning
the first strawberry of the season
the first kiss which makes the earth move
the first time your baby smiles
the first time ever I saw your face ....
Maybe it is best to only ever do things once?
