How much time do you spend researching?

I spend as much time as I can on my tree every day, which is hours. When I get stuck I work out sideways, probably too far sideways but I only do the work and don't spend money on this I just LOVE research of any kind. I have more info on the tree of my great grand fathers brother William than I do on my own direct line just because it was easier to find. I 'met' another member on here who is a direct descendant of Williams wife and was able to pass on all the info for him to check out for himself.

If I had my working life again I would definitely chose research/genealogy and envy Fraser and Fraser on Heir Hunters all their resources.

I work on it almost every day, spending up to 3 or 4 hours or so at the most.

Occasionally I get a whole day to myself when I get lost up my tree and I still enjoy every minute of it.

I am working on my own, my OH's and a Brother in laws, so when I get stuck on one I switch to another.

Dear Ladies

Hello

I agree.

Once I got the lniks I needed I was researching like mad.
Then it goes quiet while I sort the info out.

Then post of e-mails and letters to archive and contact places.

Then it gets busy again!

This is all worked around the usual things people do, like work, family, housework, shopping essentials, etc!

Very best wishes.
xx

It varies for me now .... I could spend all day and night when I first started, but not so easy now with all the brick walls, so I often take breaks for a few days then go back .... bloodshot eyes here as well lol

I work on four, my biological, adopted, OH's and brother in laws. When I get sick to death of one tree I will leave it for months and work on another.

Headaches rule in this house!

I think the " ancestors " all go quiet.........then lot's of new info seems to pop up at once ........a bit like waiting for a bus , then three turn up together.

I think I've reached the point in my tree that I'm not going to get any further in any direction with out actually having to travel to the places they haled from .

Today, allowing for breaks, I will have spent 9 hours researching, some days I spend 16 hours which just go so quickly.

Either makes me sad or mad :-((
